I have had lots of wood with it, it wont harm anything. You can scrap/brush it off or wait till it goes away in time. and nothing I've owned has tried to eat it. werner
That's totally normal for new driftwood. Fungi on Wood (scroll down.) It will eventually go away on its own as bacteria establish themselves on the wood. Grazers (snails, algae eating fish, etc.) will also help take care of it.
