THE GRIZZ
Hi all, I would like to know if this is a good lighting option for a 155 gal bow front for most if not all types of coral: A 155 bow front. This includes the stand, custom canopy, sump and piping. I will include the little giant pump I was using for it. lighting system is an ice-cap VHO 440, end caps and three MH reflectors with mogal bases, including wiring. I am looking at buying this tank and would like to know if its worth it.
Dipset
Ice cap ballasts are second to none.
jewels
Worth what? Do the MH's come with ballasts? Three Metal halide bulbs @ flourescent bulbs ? You could grow succulents in there!
MMAX
I asked a very respected SW shop owner if MHs were really needed (my set-up is a 100gal and 22" deep) or if I could get away with T5s. His reply was that he always gets questions from people asking what they can grow with lower output lighting. He went on to say that if you get MHs right away there would be nothing that you can't grow. In my own opinion, for all types of coral, yes it is worth it. jewels
Still need a price to determine the value.
rstjean
I have had t5 in a couple of tanks and i thought they held me back on getting sps if you ever want to get sps i would go with metal halide.
