John Snow
Hi, I've got 6 hard working zebra danios who have performed their job admirably and cycled my 30 gallon tank. They now need a change in address, will they be ok in a 5 gallon tank? One of them is tiny, maybe 1/2 inch and the others are about an inch. I'm assuming that no other fish could go in that 5 gallon with them as i'd be at the stocking limit, is that correct? I can give a couple away to a friend if 6 is too many for my small tank. jewels
As long as the tank is 30" long X 6" X 6" = 5 gallons you should be OK. The bioload is secondary to the elbow room in this case. These dudes are endurance swimmers ( they never stop ). With thier active lifestyle they need room to go! Give them all away - five gallons is to small for one Danio. Slough Shark
I definitely agree, they aren't really suitable as Nano fish. If you want something to fill the tank, try some dwarf Rasboras, shrimp, or a Betta. I wouldn't suggest splitting them up to fit either as they are a schooling species. Vallisneria
What are you planning on stocking in the 30g? The zebras might be able to live with them.
