butters
So I was sitting on my couch a few minutes ago and I heard a splash come from my tank, and I look overly quickly to see two of my Piranhas fighting. After their little scuffle I decided to take a closer look at them, and I noticed one of them has a decent sized chunk missing out of his belly now. Fortunately, it doesn't look like it is big enough to actually be life threatening. Even know he looks fine and is swimming alright I'm not sure if I should be taking any precautions. Any advice, or should I just leave him be?
timbruun
Not a whole lot you can do. I had 4 red bellies and now have 3. One did have a chunk out of it when it was younger and now has a small scar though.
BettaFishMommy
i'd just make sure the tank is kept as clean as possible, and do more frequent water changes. keep an eye out for infection and have a hospital tank ready to set up if you need to isolate the one fish. i don't have experience with piranhas, but i do know that if a fish has an injury the other fish could be likely to pick at it. keep an eye out for that too!
