jewels
Does anyone care to share experience with TDS metres? I have been shopping around - and am looking to buy one. There are some fine looking ones from HM Digital. Anything to watch out for? Do you wish you had gotten a different one? Do you love yours? It frightens me when I see any product with such a large price span. The $20.00 ones claim the same accuracy as the $450.00 ones. I do not (knowingly like to) buy junk. I hate picking how much to spend on an item - when they all look the same. :boxed: http://www.tdsmeter.com/products/tds4.html
vince0
I bought an HM digital from Big Al's online USA. Very much comparable to the one on mops.ca, but more feature for less money. Only peace of advise I have, since these units are great, is to either buy 2 non water proof ones, or spend the extra money on the waterproof version. DanGofCalgary
What Vince said. Do not submerge beyond the recommended depth on the non water proof version. hehe. Playing with TDS is really bucket chemistry, so accuracy to 10 or so TDS is all you need. The other things to watch for are, if you are adding salt for any reason, that will show up as TDS. I find mine useful just to make sure the TDS isn't creeping up from evaporation, and to maintain a certain parameter for fish that need soft water to spawn. I've been fine with my $25 unit from Big Al's online. Dan
