cainechow
I'm hoping to acquire some plants for my tank at the CAS auction, but my tank isn't quite ready for plants yet. Does anyone have links or opinions on how to keep plants in a temporary holding cell in waiting for planting in the main tank? Can I just fill up a container with water and have most plants happily sit in there? If yes, how long? Am I being nutty?
Sprucegruve
i have had to leave some plants in a 5g pail for 2 weeks. i setup a 25Wheater,a airstone, added half dose of ferts once-twice a week,i also had a small growlight above the pail. i may have over killed it,but no plants died or looked really bad at the end of 2 weeks. cainechow
Cool. My biggest impediment for setting up the tank right now is finding some nice rocks for 'scaping.
Blue Ram
You can simply float the plants in your tank with some lighting and water movement until you are ready to plant them.
Vallisneria
I've kept plants in a rubbermaid or bucket until I needed them. I just put a light and a heater(my basement gets too cold without one). I didn't add anything for water movement but I did water changes every couple days. Worked fine
