I Need To Catch Some Pond Fish

So....ma'am, ah.....do you have a valid fishing license? What is the catch limit for domesticated goldfish and koi?

Since koi and goldfish are a type of carp I thought that I would look into if there are any restrictions on em. Apparently there aren't and you can even use them for bait... though you are trying to save them not use them for bait :P

Gold fish, carp and koi are not a sport fish, so like Caineshow said, no restrictions. And, I am fishing in a private dug-out with permission, so again, no restrictions there also. I wouldn't need a license anyway, and no catch limit unless the owner of the fish say so.

Just like if someone has a dug out and stocks it with trout, there is no catch limit because the fish are privately owned.

Electro fishing is the way to go. No chance of rippin' up thier mouths with hooks. The electro fisher ain't cheap but by far the most humane way to do it. Seine nets tend to kill most of the fish they catch. They get snagged by the gills and die with in a few hours of being caught. When I worked at fisheries and took samples of the lakes most of fish that came up with the net were dead. We would set the net the day before and come back the next day. Not an option if you want to save the fish.

You were most likely using gill nets not seine nets. Seine nets do not harm fish .

If you need help with the fishing and rehoming of the fish I could help out. I know several people would would take what I catch and do not want. Seems like it would be fun.
