I need one that will drive 10 air powered Hamburg Matten Filters across 8 tanks all under 20 gallons. I have never used HMF before or air in the aquarium. Suggestions on what I need please. First one I got was the Hi-Blow 20 which handled a quite a few tanks. Eventually bought a second and now never run out of air. Very quite and no maintenance in two years. Something along the lines of the DAPMH 8 or 15 will work fine ..I am currently running 30-35 tanks on a jehmco LPH26. The LPH26 runs 8 of my tanks ranging from 10- 30 that have HMF's in them.The rest of the tanks ranging also from 10-40 gal have ATI pro's..something to think about if you ever plan on expanding.It will also benefit you by using a good quality airstone.Aquatic ecosystems carries the sweetwater AS-1 which is great for using in your uplift tubes in your HMF tanks seeing it is slim..They rarely ever clog.I haven't changed my stones in over a year and seen no air loss. http://www.aquaticeco.com/subcategories/2219/Sweetwater-Air-Diffusers Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm hoping to get away with spending only around $100 bucks but I would spend more if need be. Mark_N Posted November 29, 2012 Report Share Posted November 29, 2012 It's just something to think about now instead of paying twice..I said i wasn't going to add on and went from 10 tanks to 40. but, the diaphragm's arent all that expensive to start with.noise is always a factor.Those pumps are very quiet. gBOYsc2 Posted November 29, 2012 Author Report Share Posted November 29, 2012 Well we are currently renting so I think anything past the 8 tanks I have planned is unrealistic and the landlord wouldn't be too impressed. So I am pretty sure the 8 tanks will keep me busy and occupied and give me enough variety in what I would like to keep. I am 99.9% sure I will not be expanding but I hear ya. Best to dish out for what I will eventually want instead of keep ugrading and spending even more. Kind of like my computer.:P About the diaphragm pumps. Are they hard to service? How often to they need maintenance? Are there parts and fees I will need for maint? The tanks will be in the basement so noise is not much of a factor but obviously quiet is better.
