  1. Talk to John at Jehmco. He is very smart on all of this..Tell him you planned setup...He will let you know which is best for your project.Really nice guy and will take the time to help you.
  2. It's just something to think about now instead of paying twice..I said i wasn't going to add on and went from 10 tanks to 40. but, the diaphragm's arent all that expensive to start with.noise is always a factor. Those pumps are very quiet.
  3. I havent dealt with a tank that size yet.If i did.At that size i would split the foam in both back corners on an angle.with a lift in each.Maybe larger stones.depending how close you are off the air run.Deeper tanks will require more presssure. The best person to ask that would be Stephan @ swisstropicals.i'm sure he has seen mulptiple confiqurations and would give great advice.
  4. Hi John. Here is a post i started on the US forum at rainbowfish.org. this will give you some good ideas on where to start.I am using a jehmco LPH26 linear pump. running about 30-35 tanks on it. still has room for a few more with ease. Also see the link by rainbowfish at the end of the thread that was done by him way before i started using this system.. several ideas you can take from them.central air is def the way to go with HMF's if you are running multiple tanks and want to save on electricty. http://rainbow-fish.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2325
  5. You may be better off with a good quality diaphragm pump if you are only planning on running those tanks alone on it without adding on later..Unless you have a larger central air system already you can tap into? http://www.jehmco.com/html/central_air_pumps.html . Something along the lines of the DAPMH 8 or 15 will work fine ..I am currently running 30-35 tanks on a jehmco LPH26. The LPH26 runs 8 of my tanks ranging from 10- 30 that have HMF's in them. The rest of the tanks ranging also from 10-40 gal have ATI pro's..something to think about if you ever plan on expanding. It will also benefit you by using a good quality airstone.Aquatic ecosystems carries the sweetwater AS-1 which is great for using in your uplift tubes in your HMF tanks seeing it is slim..They rarely ever clog.I haven't changed my stones in over a year and seen no air loss. http://www.aquaticeco.com/subcategories/2219/Sweetwater-Air-Diffusers
  6. Thanks Rick for putting the pressure on me! .You know as well as i do we both think the same when it comes to not just raising rainbowfish but, raising rainbowfish to thier full potentials. You have done a tremendous job at that for quite sometime now....Let me just add to your comment above if i may.Rick is spot on about his comments. Those amano's are smarter than you think. They will learn the pattern of finding where the fish are breeding. It won't take them long to find all those eggs your furcatus have been laying daily.I'm pretty sure you are already missing alot..The amano's will find the mop and know it is a feeding ground..assuming you have a mop in the tank for them to deposit eggs on?.And where you can collect eggs from easily?.With 5 females you should have a 100 eggs by weeks end..As Rick stated.. That is just the beggining. There is much more to know on how to hatch and raise fry of this wonderful little species you really need to learn to be successful with them..
  7. Hello Rick. Can see you have been quite busy..Quite a list of bows and info on them you are getting around up here. though i shouldn't seem surprised seeing your tops up there at and keeping and breeding these lovely jewels..Great job!.. you know C.alleni is one of my favorites as well. I like to use the word psychedelic to describe their colors.Especially when they hit breeding mode.Very hard to capture on camera. You have done a great job getting it looking at these awesome pics.. Keep up the great work! Mark~N
