Jam
Hello! I've been keeping cherry shrimp for almost a year now. I have constantly heard how easy they are to breed, and I was hoping that my small colony would take off but it never has. I have had a shrimp produce eggs three times, but she dropped every batch by the end of the first day, and now that shrimp is no longer with us. I more recently got 15 more shrimp, and after four months I still have seen no sign of eggs with these ones either. Some tank details: it is a 10 gallon tank with a moderate amount of plants (anubias, crypt, limnophila, and helanthium), I've got drift wood, cholla wood, and gravel substrate. The temperature is 76 F. 0 nitrites and ammonia, about 5 ppm nitrate consistently. I've been a bit more concerned about GH as it is measuring at 300 ppm (although I don't know exact number because my testing strips max at 300, and the level before that is 150). KH is between 60-80 ppm. I use treated Edmonton tap water. Does anyone have an idea what is going on?
