New Macros

I usually think of macro as being a magnification mode. If the image on the 'film' is at elast the same size as it was in 'real life' then you are at 1:1 macro. If it is bigger on film, then you are magnifying and are in some form of macro mode.

On a side note, what makes a shot macro?How close up does it have to be to be considered macro?

David’s description is correct, a macro is considered to be a minimum of a 1:1 reproduction of the object on the film or digital sensor.

As such none of these pictures are actually true macro shots. But that doesn't stop them from being nice pictures!

I need to get into reefing, I don't have nearly enough expensive hobbies.
