johnsmith
In their huge display tank featuring oscars, severums, ID sharks, a couple of haps, arowana, JD's, etc. there's a cool pair of CA's/SA's guarding a cloud of fry. I'm not sure what they are, but I'm sure if you've seen the tank you could figure it out - something other than what I've mentioned. I think someone mentioned there are dovii in there so that might be it? Basically there are about half a dozen oscars, a few sharks, jd's and severum in one side of the tank, the arowana cruising the top (they got nipped at once) and a couple of huge pacus that are looking really rough, but are allowed to hang out pretty close to the fry. They gave chase to the haps a couple of times but other than that they're just staying on guard. If you've only seen a pair with fry in a 6ft long tank it's worth stopping by to see. wandj
Wow, with such tough neighbours, I am surprised all the babies don't get eaten even with mom and dad trying to guard them.
Hemi
If they are Dovii I'm not suprised that they still have the fry the other fish in the tank are lucky to be allowed to share the tank
johnsmith
I stopped by again tonight and was told they are dovii. Their fry are getting big. Those guys are fast growers. I was surprised to see how many are actually left. The guy there said the fry are even starting to show attitude toward the other fish. canucklehead
I was there the other night, very cool sight indeed. THe male was harassing anything that came near the fry, makes me want a dovii again

Nyasa
I had to stop by Pisces myself to check this out. Very cool to see the parents taking runs at much larger catfish.
rudy
I totally agree. That dovii sitting in a world full of predators yet losing minimal (if any) fry is amazing. They even have a Marmoratus cat in there.
Mighty Prawn
My wife and I watched that spectacular parenting for at least half hour. Very entertaining. -Hideo
