vic
I have talked to three different retailers about the captioned fresh water oddity. First said fine in a community tank. Second said no way in a community tank. The third said ok but only with larger fish, say in excess of 3 inches. So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, what's the poop? Vallisneria
Just like any crayfish it depends on the individual but usually they dont' do very well in community tanks. They can catch small fish, they do their hunting at night when the fish are sleeping. But on the other hand if you put them with larger fish you risk the cray getting eaten. They ar every easy prey when they molt. So i keep mine in its own tank with a couple little fish i threw in there and dont' care if he eats They are really cool and worth giving them their own tanks. Toirtis
Agreed...he will go after smaller fish, and with larger fish (3"+) you have to be careful to have fish that will not go after him.
Mighty Prawn
If you wanted to have him in a community tank with some larger fish, you could always put together a tiny set of crayfish chain mail.Should be cheap, you'll need like, 10 pieces of chain? -Hideo
