Ellie_A
Does anyone know any other names for the gold tulip eel or maybe the scientific name? I'm looking for information and pics. Can't seem to find anything at all. Petland carried them at one point, any ideas Fishgeek? I know you remember these guys, they provided hours of entertainment for us all! Thanks. Toirtis
Golds had them too, and Riverfront got some very similar ones under a different trade name...many sold as such appear to be Monopterus albus, the Asian swamp eel....others may be Ophisternon ssp, but the former is far more common and likely. They show up live in some of the local fish markets for about $5/lb, although the fish market ones are usually brown.
windeindoiel
I remember those at petland, one of them had something weird sticking out it's mouth so I was all looking at it, trying to figure out what it was. Then one of the employees came by and was like yeah that's another eel. And I was like I want.
