  1. Last but not least a shot of the tank in full view
  2. Hi, I thought I would post some pics of my first attempt at a Marine tank. It as been running for about 2 months and is very stable. I think I may be addicted all over again...As you can see from the pics I have a couple of Mushrooms, a Bubble tip Anenome, a Clarks Anenome fish, a couple of Blue Chromis and lots of other critters that have come out of the live rock. First Pic is of the Clarks Anenome fish hangin out with his new best friend the bubble Anenome I got from Albert. Cheers, Bernie
  3. Yes it was you for sure you said it came from your own collection and I paid you for it directly but I can't remember what you called it. It is kind of pink with a green cast and has sort of pink tips. I bought some extra live rock and a brittle star as well. I was in two Saturdays ago, remember Big guy lots of questions..... All my Best, Bernie
  4. Thanks for the reply, I found some more time to research things further and found out a bunch of info on the things that I was asking about. I have a Skilter filter/skimmer on the tank with one AC 402 power head and on AC Mini powerhead providing circulation. All parameters are fine, I modified my skimmer to a direct air injection from a noisy unreliable venturi and it is producing great skimmate. I've been adding 1tbsp of sodium bicarbonate per week to help keep PH in the 8.2-8.3 range and doing water changes of about 25% every 3-4 weeks. I have since added more live rock, one green pink eyed anenome ( I think thats what Albert called it) and have one Clarks Anenome fish and 2 blue Chromis and one brittle star. The mushrooms are pink with green spots and are getting bigger by the week. . Feeding my anenome fresh scallops twice per week and everyone else flake and pellets. Algae is certainly under control with no large blooms except for a couple of large masses of green bubble algae which I actually like the looks of. The tank is only 25 gallon so I likely can't add anything else without causing trouble but would like to move things to a larger tank at some point. I have taken pictures of my Clarks anenome fish cuddling with his new best friend the anenome and will post some pics of the tank and its features in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for your interest, I will update you when the photos go up. Bernie
  5. Good to see he healed up nicely.
  6. Looks great, I have T-5's in all 5 of my tanks, I even found T-5 Actintics at Pieces for my Marine tank. I got mine from a lighting wholesaler maybe try those guys they are sometime cheaper than HD or other retail stores. Nice tank, Bernie
  7. Hi all, I set up my first 25 gal reef on Friday and got the live rock from Albert and Dennis on Saturday. The tank is cycling and I put in some Nitrobacteria and Oxygen suppliments, the water is so clear I can't belive it but I'm wondering how long I should wait before adding some small fish. I only intend to add 3-4 small damsels, anenome fish, shrimp etc. My skimmer is not producing anything yet and I have no algae after leaving the lights on for 10-12 hours per day. I have one 20000k actinic T-5 and 2- 6400K T-5 lights, Crushed carribian coral as the substrate and about 10-11 pounds of live rock and another 5-8 pounds of Hawai lava rock in place. The live rock is teaming with life worms, mushrooms, feather dusters, 1 small brown crab... but wonder do I need to add anthing else or once I get fish will the inverts feed of the waste ans small particals from them. Just some observations and general questions... anyone who as done this before might think I'm in over my head but I am so busy with work right no I don't have time to do any more research on the web. I have the set up right I think but need some genreal info. Thanks, Bernie
  8. I've noticed that Pieces is carrying some of this type but am not sure of the spectrum, also pretty sure I saw some at Big Al's but again not sure of the spectrum. Best of luck
  9. Welcome, It's great to have people with lots of experience.
  10. Very nice !!!! Bernie
  11. Well it's been 6 weeks and I did everything I could. The visible signs of disease all healed up (fin dammge and small scale damage) but he wasted away from lack of eating. I tried about 10 different types of food from fresh to freeze dried but alas I put him out of his misery last night using very hot water. Seems sad but I think it was best. Bernie
  12. Thanks everyone, I moved the little guy to another tank were he will not compete with the other one for territory and have raised the temp and added salt. Right now it seems that he is more active and hopefully within a couple of days will begin to eat again. This discus is one of two I got from Riverfront and is about 2" in size. Again thanks for all the suggestions. Bernie
  13. No I haven't seen any white feces but it seems to be loosing weight (I.e.the fullness in its head and along the lateral line) I will try the salt today and have done 20% water change and added charcoal back for 24 hours to remove all medications. If the salt doesn't work I will add back melafix in a couple of days. What is Metro? Thanks, Bernie
  14. I have a Red Turq. discus which as not been eating at all for about 10 days and seems to be wasting away. It looks fine color is good, swims fine, water parameters are fine and have been continuing water changes regularly. I have been treating with Aquarisol for seven days and have now added Melafix to the routine but he is not comming around. The other one that I have in the tank was picking on him a little but he as left him alone for at least two weeks now. He seems to be interested in the food some times but never takes any. I have been feeding lots for varity and the other one is getting fat but this one just seems to avoid everything. His stomach seems a little swollen so I think it's some sort of internal parasite but nothing seems to be working.... am I doomed to loose this little guy???? Hopefully someone has some experience ...
  15. Sorry, this tank is on my other post but my computer sent it through right before it crashed Bernie :cuss:
