I have to agree with murminator. A little tank should be able to run nicely with water changes. That being said I still wish I had one on my nano. I guess it just makes me feel better seeing a skimmer pulling crap out of the water. My BC14 had no skimmer and I did a 5 gal water change per week. (I had three fish in there plus coral.) If I went two weeks I was "pushing it", at least I think I was when I looked at the difference in the corals if I did 2 weeks versus 1 week. It all depends on your bioload I guess. If you plan on upgrading anyway, save your money for the things your bigger tank will need. I just wanted to suggest some skimmers etc. in the case that you were staying at 20g. On the other hand, if you really wanted a skimmer on it that actually did something you could buy a tiny counter current one (I think Riverfront sometimes has these?) or even make a little one. Try googling "diy nano skimmer" I could swear I saw a post on reef central or canreef that had one.

Possible addition to the Buy-Sell Rules

I definitely agree with the first idea, the last one I don't agree with (same reason why as murminator), the second idea not sure as sometimes people have changes in circumstances -
I think much of it can be personal preference. I prefer a BB as it is way easier to keep it spotless and I would never have to worry about a nitrate spike from moving my tank/stirring things up; however I can't have a BB as I have a mandarin and a pipefish and I think the sandbed is good for keeping the critters that keep those two fed, so I have a small sandbed for critters. Gobies and a conch keep it very well stirred up. Really it looks better aesthetically and also has the added benefit of reflecting the light (if it is a white/light sand)

Mine seem to like to host a rock...just an ordinary coralline covered rock, lol. They ignore my hammer, frogspawn, gbta, xenia, and toadstool, though one occasionally buries himself in the gsp. In my personal opinion the rio nano skimmer is a piece of crap. You would be better off with a deltec if you have the bucks, or maybe a remora, or barring that a coralife (least it actually pulls out skimmate which is more than I can say for the rio...my rio anyway) Heyyyy where are the pics of this salty setup! We want pics! okay..I want pics Oh if you can get away with rigging up a sump it will make things a whole lot easier if you have to buy bigger equipment. Some skimmers can take up quite a bit of needed room in a little 20.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you are doing very well for being "thrown into" the hobby.

I have some of that last plant, whatever it is. If you cut it it will root. If you cut it and let it float, it still grows, lol.

I have a tin foil barb in with ours...definitely not typical though.

Could it possibly have been from getting into a mouth fight with another fish? That would give his lips reason to look like that.

I was wondering the same thing.

Ok this is just bizarre.....I don't approve :boxed:

Jungle Anti-Parasite food and Shrimp

I ended up using some in my RCS tank and no one died. Just my experience though -
I really like the xp3 and run one on my 72g cichlid tank. Had no issues with it at all. Most people love the fx5, but I found mine would stop working quite often, but I think it is just my unit in particular. Had a fluval 404 and actually went to the xp3 instead due to issues with leaking, the impeller, etc. etc. it got to be so I just couldn't fix the leak anymore. Just my 2 cents anyhoo.

How about furcatas? They are attractive and somewhat unusual. You can find these at pisces.
