  1. Lots in the NSR. Just keep trying, you will hit one. I got sick of pike and walleye also, now I am after the Lake trout!!!
  2. I have a 72 and a 110 on my main floor, house is 35 years old. I stick with the rule to have your tank against the wall that runs perpendicular to the floor joists. that way the tanks weight runs along as many floor supports as possible. if it is running parallel with the floor joists, then all of the weight is on those specific ones and not being spead out. but thats me.
  3. USELESS WITHOUT PICTURES!! Sorry didnt mean to yell post pics, post pics
  4. This is from a friend of a friend, but very important none the less
  5. The Scottish Government has ALMOST decided to establish our country’s first Marine Reserve, a No Take Zone that will provide a safe breeding ground for fish and other marine species in Lamlash Bay, just off the Isle of Arran. A Public Consultation is underway; the climax of a 14year long campaign spearheaded by Community Of Arran Seabed Trust – COAST. http://arrancoast.co.uk/news/april08.html Three local divers discovered a maerl bed in the bay – home to a myriad of sea creatures - and have dedicated heroic amounts of time trying to save this marine jewel for future generations. http://www.arrancoast.co.uk Like coral reefs and old-growth forest, maerl beds take thousands of years to grow and are irreplaceable cradles of bio-diversity. Most everyone agrees that a living ocean is vitally important but parliament will only act if it hears a loud, clear voice of approval from lots of people. Individuals and organisations from all over the world are invited to participate in the consultation. Numbers count. Our community is just a few thousand souls. A big show of support will make the idea of a Marine Sanctuary a reality. This window of opportunity is open only until June 5th 2008. Please act now, help Save Our Seabed! Email your comments to lamlashbayconsultation@scotland.gsi.gov.uk It’s free and takes very little time. A short, simple message is fine, for example “Yes to the Lamlash Bay Marine Reserve. Please make it bigger to ensure the protection of sea life.” Include your name / group name and full address. Postal Address, instant email link to the consultation and more info here: http://www.arrancoast.co.uk/news/april08.html Do you have an extra minute to forward this email to your friends and associates? Imagine ripple effect! Thank you so much for your consideration. Best Wishes, Deirdre J. 6. Will do. Oh and everything else in the tank is doing great!! The kids are upset that "Poon" is gone Yes Poon was the name of the Yellow tang, more for the fact of having the girls say, thats our yellow tang, Poon.
  7. I am sorry toirtis but I was told to keep that to myself, I didnt buy it. What was left was given to me. There were a TON of flat worms tho, and I mean a ton!!
  8. So over the last week I have been siphoning out little red bugs. Flat worms are what I found them to be, and on sunday I did a dose of Flat worm exit. Man that stuff works as good as an H-bomb, As they were dieing I siphoned out the dead bodies and the cobweb looking things that they left behind. I watched carefully and after about 3 hours I noticed non of my coral were opening up so I proceeded to do a 30% water change and again watch. Monday I took the afternoon of to do a little more maint as I wanted the rest of these darn things out. When I went to bed last night everything was going fine. All fish were eating, the crabs and shrimp were doing their thing, corals and such looked good, but this morning I woke up to my Yellow tang dead. Do you think it was from the flat worms? I am at work now so there is no way I can get home to do a water change or even checkon them. I need some Ideas, anything that you think would help fix things or understand what I did wrong, or need to still do.
  9. Oh my, Oh I feel so bad for you. My family sends their condolences
  10. Curious myself on the size of tanks they are in
  11. If I wish that for christmas I wonder if santa could do that before the kids woke up
  12. Check here there is a new thread for this build. Cowboys 225 in wall tank THANK YOU
  13. Well, has it been shortly enough? PICS PLEASE
  14. if you decide to use loaches of puffers, that is prob your best bet. I have had both and they do an amazing job. To remove them out of drift wood, you can try boiling it(to big?) cook it in the oven, or even put it outside for a couple days, the cold at night and frost should be able to help. Puffers I found to be the fastest way of ridding them. Maybe stop feeding and let them do what they would in the wild, scavange. Puffers seem to be the most fun to watch and you will know when they are doing their job as you might even hear the little guys crushing the shells
  15. Maybe she has good aim and jumped into the shrimp tank, had a few babies, then got scared of the shrimp and managed to make itback into the 20G Moms do strange things lol
  16. I agree Used to see them all the time, but not to much as of recent
  17. Thats to funny dunl. My cat learned a hard lesson that way too
  18. Ofcourse theres a chance I had 2 babies for a long time hiding, till one day they must have gotten to big for the hiding spot and became food for someone
  19. OK so here is the story about the exploding fish tank. In my oldest Daughters room we USED to have a 10G tank ontop of her 5 drawer high dresser, It had been there for quite sometime, at least 1.5 years. Her room is in the basement, next to our computer room. One day a couple months ago, all the kids were in her room playing, The two girls on the bed and boy was just being boy. well My wife and I are sitting at our computers doing a little work, when suddenly There was this real wierd noise. I figured the noise out to be all the drawers on the dresser opening at the same time, then the BANG came, There was this kind of sliding noise with a swoosh and smash and shatter and explosion and crash all at the same time. I jump up thinking what the F*#K and go into the bedroom to find my 3 year old trapped UNDER the dresser, which had fallen on its front, with the drawers out and in between boy and the dresser itself, with the aquarium right beside his head with 2 sides blown out of it. Water, gravel, ornaments, pump, heater, and fish EVERYWHERE. So before I know it I have the dresser and drawers flying out of the way to get at Rooney (boy). Pick him up and he doesn't have a scratch on him. A little, scared, OK ALOT scared. But still not 1 scratch or bruise. The two girls who were sitting on the bed at the time, are in awe. I asked Anna if she is ok and her answer was "WOW, that was cool". If you knew Anna you would laugh. Eva says her foot is cut, so I look at it and it looks like a tiny little paper cut. We get her to go into the bathroom while we start to look for the fish. in the middle of finding fish I get a call to come and look at her foot, which doesn't have a little cut, its a good 1" gash beside her big toe from the shattering glass. After glueing it together so it stops opening when she walks I go back to finish fish hunting. Finally find all of the fish, without any casualties. It took amost a week to finally get everything fully cleaned up and we are still finding little pieces of glass once in a while. That same night I screwed the dresser to the wall with 3" screws, so it never happens again. We got to laugh about it after we knew noone was seriously hurt and figured out that the way Rooney was trapped he must have been running away from the falling dresser. Little bugger probably tried to climb it. I must admit it took a bit of convincing, but my wife talked me into staying in the hobby. So that was my fun fish summer, and the most S#!T I have ever had scared out of me OH...Apparently I moved the dresser and drawers on my own to get boy out, but when we were putting everything back together that dresser is one heavy mother to move. Its amazing how strong you get when there is life involved!!!
