  1. Are you sure they were labelled Olive puffers and not Avocado puffers? I remember eyeing the avocados but don't recall any others. Sorry i mixed the name up they are avocado puffers. there tank is well planted with lots of rock shelters any ideas on breeding, or what i can do to help?
  2. I love weird fish, but I am not an expert on their scientific names. I have two lungfish, a 7" blood parrot cichlid, an albino kribensis, a pair of olive puffers, a hillstream loach, and I love my two weather loaches!
  3. I bought a pair of Olive Puffers from the last edmonton auction, how the heck do you make them make babies? The internet does not seem to be a lot of help. They are currently in a 20gal with lots of plants and snails.
  4. I don't know the first thing about killifish and I would love some information on how to keep them. I have them in an un-heated two gallon tank right now, is that alright? The internet hasn't really helped me out a whole bunch so any past experiences with keeping and breeding them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ehren
  5. Melenotia Afinis - Currently Fry Archocentus sp. - Setting The Mood For Lovin' Bettas - Introducing The Newly Wed's
  6. I put my filter underneath the wood in my tank, stops the sponge from floating away as well.
  7. They hatched as soon as I put the Java Moss in the tank, there are about twelve to sixteen in there! All different sizes, but they are getting noticably larger. These were my first egg-laying fry, so I'm a proud papa. Lol.... so cute. Ehren
  8. I don't really think that "fungest " is a word, but that would be my guess as well.
  9. Are permits only good for the one time, or do they last for a set time period?
  10. Sorry my net has been down for a few days. But the problem seems to have ended after water changes and medication. I never had many plants in the tank before, that is pretty much the only difference that had taken place in the tank. Plus my water changes haddn't been as frequent as they used to be because of the re-arranging of their room. The problem seemed to go away though. But i'll keep and eye on it. I am usuing primafix and malifix, and water changes. It was in my 55 gal community tank. It is just below it's capasity level, and unfortunatly I am color blind so I cannot test the water. But thanks for the help and concern!
  11. I started treating the water, because one of my rainbows looked like a small patch of scales was falling off. Within one day it spread to three other fish, and now two are dead, and one will be by morning. It looks like a fungus or white "cotton" coupled with scales flaking off, and it is making their fins fall off and flake away. I moved them to a sick tank, but I don't know if that will stop the spread of the disease in my 55gal. EMERGENCY!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! I have pictures but they are too large to upload. PANIC!!!
  12. Honestly, I put a male and female into a twenty gallon with some java moss and a 12 inch pleco. As soon as I saw a baby I took the parents out, and now I have babies. There were only a few little tricks to it. I have a bubble filter, not a motorized one. There is a lot of Java moss. And feeding and seeing them can be tricky, just because they are so small. Plus you really have no idea how many you are going to have because they will hatch each day, a couple at a time. I went from having four on the first day, to having twelve now. Hope that helps. You can put in some slate, but it's not necissary, the only rock that I have in there is holding down the filter. Good luck.
  13. It is a very cute fish, I like to keep rainbows, unfortunatly though I haven't seen anything like that as of yet. The most common thing that I have seen is scales flaking off the nose and rot on the fins. I find that they are happier with more than one rainbow in the tank, and problems seem to go away. As long as the fish is acting alright I would wait for the problem to fix itself, if It gets any worse though then I would take action. I find that little defects seem to come out as the fish ages, especially rainbows and they usually work out on their own. It might even be something as simple as it scraped itself against something. It never hurts to treat the water anyway, just to be safe.
  14. Well the other way is if you find out how many cubic inches of space there are (L x W x H) and divide it by 231 you find out how many gallons there are. I just did that, seems to work if you know roughly what you need after that.
  15. I wouldn't, they will just eat them up. Except for the Blood Parrot Cichlid, It's mouth dosen't close so it dosen't bite or get too aggressive, unless I put my hand in there, it seems to like the taste of human.
