  1. Here is a pic of my tank. Still got a bit too much algae, but it is slowly starting to dissapear. At least the bottom is algae free now....
  2. The julies are fun, and the female have been spending most of the time deep in the caves lately, I wonder if..... babies?
  3. I got them from Big Al's in Edmonton. The week after, they were 20% off :bang1:
  4. I got the Rebel XT I will be spending a lot of time reading... and practicing.
  5. Beautiful spider, and a great shot!
  6. So I got my new camera today  Here is my largest Julidochromis marlieri, he's about 3.5" and got some pretty nice colors and here is one of my baby Xenotilapia ornatipinnis, a tiny littly thing
  7. I have to say that my Xenotilapias are an amazing cleaning crew. Since I added them the bottom of my tank has become sparkling clean! They eat the algae too. I have a medium size rock in the open area where they hang out that used to be green as grass, but now there are no algae left. The only place I have algae is on the rock pile where my julie pair are.
  8. After doing a google search I am pretty sure that is a Neolamprologus tetracanthus
  9. Actually, those fish look like some kind of Neolamprologus... shaped like a tetracanthus but I'm not sure about the coloring? That would mean Tanganyika, if I am correct.
  10. Thanks I prefer the last one where he is hovering over the sword plant, it looks natural. Too bad the focus is a bit too far back on his body and the eye is blurry. Next week I'll try to get some pics of the rest of my fish
  11. I use it for my tangs and they love it. My apisto does not care for it though... I guess that after eating live and frozen food for a while he got kind of picky...
  12. He has the older Canon Rebel (300D). I ordered an refurbished Rebel XT (350D) with full warranty for $499, it's without the lens but my friend is giving me one of his for free (same as was used in those shots) so that saved me a fair amount of money  Yes he is very good looking. I have spoiled him with froozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and since I have an unlimited supply of mosquito larvae and cyclops where I live, he's been getting lots of those too. Food makes a difference!
  13. I did have a female for him but unfortunately she passed away today. I am not sure what was wrong but the lower parts of her head slowly became deformed and lately she had problems with her vision. She never seemed to suffer though since she ate good and even seemed to be ready to spawn again....
  14. I borrowed my friends camera and got a couple of shots of my male. I am getting a Canon Rebel XT next week so I am quite excited!
  15. I would stay away from option A for sure. Option B could work out just fine. Even if the crack spreads all they way to the edge, your worst scenario would be a minor leak.

    hello

    Welcome :welcome:
  17. I got 30-40lbs of Tufa left over that I can sell for $20.00. A couple of them are cut so they are flat on one side.

    Greetings

    Welcome! :welcome:
  19. Great! Yes I have seen those. The spotted one looked similar in shape but then again, alot of snails look similar. I might try one of those and if it works I can get more of them. I am kind of concerned though that the other snails died right away. I know they are very sensitive to copper but as far as I know I have no copper in the water. I've had a chemical analysis done and there is no copper in the water coming from the tap. I suppose something could have been in the rocks that effects snails. Maybe I should add some Prime to detoxify any heavy metals that could possibly be in the water?
  20. They were sold to me as spotted snails. I asked if they were nerite and she said yes. Do you have a picture of one of your snails?
  21. You will most likely have to cut the wires. On all the ballasts that I have dealt with in the past, once you push the wire in it locks in place and stays there. Here is a link: http://www.wikihow.com/Replace-the-Ballast...ighting-Fixture
  22. Well... that's not my video... but that's how they look like
