  1. Try shaking the bottle like a maniac for a minute. If there is no or very little foam, then it should be safe. Usually the no name ones are better. The fancy brand name ones add extra stuff.
  2. I am working on getting some really rare vic's. It will be species that most likely does not exist in north america at all. Taylor, the first one is Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor victoriae, I know you want this one . They do exist in the US but I have never seen any for sale. Click to view Second is Haplochromis sp. "broken bar", a peaceful beautiful species that lives in deep waters in Lake Victoria. The fish has only been collected once and that was in 2003. I am trying to bring in F2's or F3's. As far as I know there is only a handful people in europe that keep this fish. Click to view Third is Haplochromis thereuterion. An open water cichlid from Lake Victoria that is very similar to Cyprichromis leptosoma in both appearance and behaviour. As far as I know only a few people in Europe keep this fish. Young fry are very sensitive and difficult to raise. Click to view Fourth is Haplochromis sp. "red back scraper". This fish has only been found once (1991). One holding female was collected and all fish currently available descends from this single female. It is believed to be extinct in the wild. Click to view There are still some details that need to be worked out but I am very hopeful to get these within the next few months.

  4. Thank Kyle. I have been thinking about writing a short article but it seems like there never is enough time....
  5. Lol thanks Dalray Great color already on the Xystichromis sp. "flameback", can I have it back :eh:
  6. Hi, It looks great so far:) No you don't need the overflow. I added it because I needed to make sure enough water would allow to pass into the back of the background. Instead of have one huge grill or two smaller ones further down I chose to use the overflow instead. The overflow is also good in case the bottom grill gets clogged up and the pump will empty the water behind the background faster than it can pass through the grill. When this happens the water in front rises and the more it rises the more goes through the overflow. In your case you will be fine as you have it setup now, unless you are running an FX-5 lol
  7. After 16 days of brooding this young female let her fry out today for the first time.
