  1. Well right before supper I noticed they were picking at a piece of slate then drag their bellies on it this went on for about 15-20 minutes left for a couple minutes and came back and there was a line of eggs. I grabbed the camera and shot some video of them spawning I'll get it up soon
  2. Well not to stir the pot. What is the difference if i'm feeding goldfish to small piranha(or other fish) and it bites the tail off it a leaves it to suffer, stuggle and be slowly picked at? or a live mouse or gerbal to a snake? or a crab to a mantis? Still I realize one is for pleasure and one is for food but is this more ethical than betta fighting
  3. Ours spawn on almost a weekly basis, we just leave the moms in the tank and all the males will chase them and thats when she will just ~poof~ squirt out a bunch of dust and all the males swim back and forth through it and they just fall wherever never to been seen again. After that they will leave her alone unill she gets a fat belly again then they will pester her few a few days before the release. mot much but I HTH
  4. wow they are pretty big
  5. Here is another to try PlantGeek
  6. another update well one must have ate the babies or is holding them and one didn't cause there is about 25ish I counted 23 wife counted 25 so a little good news
  7. Well another update I went back to the tank and it was like piranhas on a wildebeest quickly chased everyone off and dug out the siphone and went to work and got the remainders then I scooped up the parents and took them too. Wellll I'm not sure what was going on either they were scooping up all the babies for protection or eating them but all went in their mouths. I'm not going near the tank for a bit to let them relax. I took them out in 3 small loads the biggest load I counted was 32 babies so I'm guesing around 70ish were there. Hoping for goodnews
  8. Just a quick up date I came home to a whole bunch of free swimming babies I'll say between 50-100 The parents are watching closely when they stray to far they suck them up and spit them back in the group. But there is 20 other fish keeping a very closer eye and not to far from the group. I dunno how long they can fight them off. I have a 5G set up for about a week with a new sponge filter, but I did open my fluval and cut a 3"X1.5" chuck of the grungy sponge and put it in the tank with it., and all the water in the tank is from the diplay tank they are in. Should I siphon them up and put them in the 5G? alone or with the parents? Right now they are house with black skirts, columbian rainbows, cherry barbs, leopard danios, neons, bloodfins, cories, and rubberlip pleco
  9. PFFTTTTT NO BEER isn't that like a women to get you all excited then rollsover........takes away your beer.....BAHHHH !!!! **stomps away**mumbles about being no beer** Oh and welcome to the board :welcome:
  10. Why not use your own? -roll-
  11. Good Luck .....and get them to test their water before you take it
  12. Gee I thought this only happened when I bought fish there.....I do get them to tests their tank before I buy from it so I know how much to acclamate, and for when I bring back the body and a water sample they see my water is better than theirs and if they tried to argue it get them to test theirs again. Usually I will deal with the fish manager so I get full replacement not 1/2 replacement Oh and congrates on the newest surprise
  13. He changed from a bio-wheel to an AC because the bio was too noisey
  14. Congrates on the hump tank.....save a baby BN for me
  15. I dunno if that starfish will be long for this world with a toby or the panther
  16. Well thay all hatched and I have a quivering mass of babies you really have to stare for a while to see them. The parents and dug about 6-7 pits and is constanly moving them or maybe they move, themselves I dunno. I have some BBS and first bites power on hand for when they get to free swim stage.
  17. Just an update I set up a 5 gal for the eggs but I chose to leave in the community tank, because of conflicting info on the net, and not being sure of myself just let the 1st batch play out so I know what to expect. This morning all the eggs are gone but the parents dug 2 pits not far away and seem to be protecting the pits but I took a flashlight and cannot seem to find anything in the pits....too small? Last night when I checked on them they were still all pink except 4 were whitish (unfertilized?) I was expecting some change to occur in the eggs before hatching such ans seeing eyes. Does all this sound normal?
  18. Anyone have a chunck of dirty java moss for sale?
  19. hmmm....sounds familar? was the water cloudy?? http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=23378
  20. Well I guess a couple old friends reunited and spawned I noticed since I got Sarahs rams her female and one of my males seemed to be tolerant of each other then this eve I was looking toward the tank and 2 where near the top and one came cruising in and was chased out big time while the other held its post then it chased a catfish off, which I thought was weird they never chase them off. So I had a look inside and behold a little rock covered in pinkish eggs and momma sitting right over them . If there is going to be another spawn I will put them in a new tank and try to raise them I did get some pics but they are crappy did get a little video though....well off to do more research http://media.putfile.com/ram-eggs The video http://media.putfile.com/Ram-eggs2 And another
  21. I have personally taken in chlorine toners in to Glenmore. They also take aqua ammonia, alum, and PAC (Poly aluminum chloride) what they do with it all I dunno. PAC is used to polish the water it grabs the suspended soilds and it sinks them to the bottom to be removed later
  22. I have bolivian, german, and gold rams. I bet you got your fish out of the middle isle where they store all the new tanks if so that tanks was about 95% females The other tank across from the saltwater fish had some males in it. My female germans are less colorful looking more like the bolivians so I believe the rams you got are females. If you look at the black spot on the side of them if you see any blue specks within the black spot it's a female no blue specks its a male, and you can tell by the more brightly colored. HTH
  23. Is that that big bow front?
  24. I would just go ahead and start it and when $200 runs out let it sit.......If your wife is like mine it will sit half done for about a week before she tells you to just finish it
