  1. I have my Alta. electrical code book somewhere but 8 devices which includes lights outlets switches etc. seems to ring a bell which of course would be one of the 8.

You may be refering to circuiting loading which is typically 12 outlets (1A/oulet) on a 15A breaker unless the load in known (switches not included as there is no load from a switch).

I did a quick look thru the CEC and could not find a limit on the number of receptacles that a GFI protects therefore it is limited by the CEC circuiting loading. There may be a spec from the manufacture perhaps.

Like he said and there is no load on a switch.

  2. Erin did you let my Julies have sex and make more? I never ever did anything special for the ones I have raised mostly because they are too small. The babies kinda stick to the rocks and eat algae or little food particles and as far as other fish go I had 4 sets of adults in a 20 gal at the same time and I witnessed no predation of young. I have probably brought well over a hundred to adulthood. I am not sure how many I have now, but I have them share a 55 with a colony of demasonis. The action I can tell you is non-stop.

  3. And you only have to put 1 GFCI in a circuit which may run to multiple plugs, You can determine which plugs will be affected by pulling the breaker in question and checking for voltage at the outlets.

  4. I had 2 plecos in 2 different tanks 6 feet apart jump out of their tanks during the night a while back and they wound up laying beside each other on the carpet, no really I did!! I wrote it off to some kind of suicide pact, but I didn't find a note...

  5. Thanks for the tip Blade. Do they protect you from that flesh loving puffer you mentioned in your other post?
An even cheaper alternative is from your local veterinary supply store. I picked up 100 thin shoulder length gloves

Don't even want to picture what those are meant for.

To explore the deeper messier regions of barnyard animals when you think one of them accidentally ate your cell phone.

  6. Kris, my GT is the size of your flowerhorn along with smaller fish, what I do is throw some 3 mil in, the little ones will try to swallow it, can't and the big fish will get them from the bottom. Then feed with the 1 mil for the other fish. The wafers are good too because they drift down and if the big fish doesn't snap it right up, the little fish will nibble at it but leave it for the big fish. Either way the big fish gets fed.

  7. It will happen, dont worry about it. How about I bring over a carrying yellow lab with experience in these things? Don't worry, they will make more, this is what life is all about. If the eggs were not viable, she will dispose of them, sorry I know it does not make you feel better but IT WILL happen for you. :D

  8. Harold,

1.44 wpg is already low light tank. No PPS or EI teritory, neither CO2 (although it does not hurt). With moderate fish load, this tank runs well on K+TE formula (most commercial ferts).

Sorry Milan I was just talking about my tank, I was at about 4 wpg with C02, injecting liquid fert into the roots. Cutting back on light and fertilizer eliminated the algae in my case. Oh and I forgot to mention that I have a very large bio-load (lots of fish)

  9. I stopped adding ferts and decreased the light a little the plants are still growing well and the hair algae has disappeared. I suspect that the plants are now getting most of the nutrients, but is kind of a balancing act, unless you follow one the regimes that Milan and others talk about along with testing.

  10. It certainly wouldn't hurt to change one third of the water. You shouldn't have a huge bio-load with only one fish in a 20 gal. if you are not feeding him too much. I would try to vacuum up food he hasn't been eating lately. As far as what to feed, it doesn't matter if your fish likes flake and not pellets. NLS comes in flake as well if you want to feed a premium flake food. I found a lot of my fish hate most pellets except for NLS. And remember your fish can go a week or more without food so don't kill him with kindness. :D
