  1. Great to hear, are they coming out with a 2-3 mm semi floater for Angels and Discus?
  2. Yup he is a red heeler with an interesting history. I understand he was a Petland dog that didn't sell right away so he was a staff dog for a while. He is incredibly well behaved. You, of course, don't give him opportunities like leaving shoes laying around, and we all take him on walks, all in all one of the best dogs I have ever had.
  3. As I was walking through my office I overheard a salesman talking about bringing his son's dog to the Humane society. Seems his son moved back with him and there was no room for another dog. Anyway I stick my nose in and here is Basil. Basil Basil 2
  4. It is about 4 feet at the deep end and yes I over winter my fish in there with a little heat, air and water circulation.
  5. Still some rock arranging and trimming of the liner to be done. I relocated the mill that I built from scratch 3 years ago and this year istalled a uv sterilizer and more plumbing inside. The pump is hidden under the planter on the left side, and my DIY filter is a rough tote that is the back of the water fall. This is a left and right picture in the middle is a bridge, length is about 16 feet long about 1000 + gal
  6. Too bad it is only in Edmonton , I am just completing my waterfall tonite, 3 years work have quite the pond to show.
  7. Because I have to transport water a long ways to the tank and I put the 2 ACs on the same power bar as the heaters, I just turn off the power, pull the caps from the filter , and for the hour it takes me to do the wc, I don't have to listen to 2 impellers sucking air. Eating yellow snow might kill you, poking butter up a cougar's @$$ with a burning stick might kill you, even being told by your employer that you have to transfer to Edmonton will surely kill you, but your tip didn't even leave an owwee mark.
  8. proceed or who best to talk to (of not you)?

I mentioned techie and fish because you obviously have knowledge in both fields.

  9. I am new and overwhelmed. I am not a techie but need the advice/assistance of one. I try to nurture my fish but they keep dying - no pleco (had 4, one at a time of course) has survived yet and one rainbow got all contorted (the polio thing I am told). After the rainbow died was going to quit because I was doubting myself so much. I don't want to continue if my fish die. Any advice on how to pr

  10. I am just trying to decide whether to go with RO water or not. It would be a change for them. You are right I do have 2 AC 500s to get juice from. Guess I should do something
  11. They mention Aquabac in the article. Are Mosquito fish allowed in Canada?
  12. Read this Manitoba article, it gives some ways to make rain barrels mosquito free, such a few drops of dish washing liquid to reduce the surface tension of the water and the mosquito's drown. The problems with mosquito fish is that they eat all larvae good or bad and in the wild have decimated amphibian populations. For your pond I would still recommend feeder goldfish or minnows. http://www.gov.mb.ca/health/wnv/docs/mosquito_homeowners.pdf
