    White Fuzz...?

I have a peace of drift wood (Malaysian) that has been growing white / clear fuzz on it. I have bleached rinsed and cooked it @ 400 for 15 min But it is still growing back The tank had no lights on it and was at 82 f Does anyone know what it is and how I can get rid of it ? It is also flouting so if anyone has a trick on how to get it sunk I will be great full Thanks Eric
  3. I found that Purigen™ works very well for removing the tannins from my tanks. I removed it just to see if I would get color and in 2 days the water was brown again 1 day after putting Purigen™ back in it was clear Eric
  4. I have seen them and the next one I find will come home with me

    Tank builders

It is, although those wider tanks (anything over 24") tend to be a bit spendy...is that just a bare tank, or does it include overflows, holes, etc? That was bare tank . With 2 overflows it would be $500

    Tank builders

Likely different builders...the difference between a Bow Valley tank and a Concept tank is like comparing a Kia to a Mercedes. lol didn't even call Concept yet .... all 3 quotes are from Calgary guys I know you get what you pay for but $1300 for a 54L x 30W x 24H seems a bit high to me . other stores have ready made 180's for $1100 (tank only) $1900 - tank , stand lights and glass tops and yes we live in free market so they are welcome to charge what ever they would like , just a little shocked thats all. 14. Hi all I started my first African tank and was sold these as peacocks , but info on some of them isn't coming so easy so any and all help would be appreciated. They are in a male only tank. so no worries of hybrids 1- red zebra ? 2- eureka ? 2.2- eureka ? 3- ???
  15. Here are some of mine you can use male neon dwarf rainbow (Melanotaenia praecox) female neon dwarf rainbow (Melanotaenia praecox) Ghost shrimp (Palaeomonetes species) Giant African Filtering shrimp (Atya gabonensis) Amano shrimp (Caridina japonica) Hope the names are all right Eric
  16. :boom: lol... no not to much, I thought I knew the difference between the 2 , thank you
  17. Thank you to every one for the info. I am using the Hagen test kit as well I did find in the booklet that comes with the kit to multiply by 0.056 to get the dh degrees 0.07 for Clark H degrees 0.1 = FH degrees 1 = hardness degrees 0.02 = mEq/L so 13 drops x 10 (kh) = 130 x 1 = 130 degrees hardness ... right ... or is it dh degrees that I should be using? Thanks again Eric
  18. Hi Eric, If you need to add 13 drops that means that you have 13 degrees. To convert to ppm just multiply with 17.9, 13x17.9=232.7ppm. Thank you very much Eric
  19. How do you get the measurement of kh in degrees? I use 13 drops to get the desired change in color , so 13 x 10 = 130 now what? Thanks Eric
  20. Thanks guys I don't know where I got that taxon from ??? Thanks for the right one I was doing a lot of reading last night and had found all of those listed as brackish other than the pleco and African giant shrimp. archers and mud skippers don't really interest me.
  21. Thanks but I'm not interested in the brackish puffers, had them before Eric
  22. Hi all I have decided to start up my 33 gal again and would love some of your help/opinions I am going to do brackish again, using sand and a lot of lava rock. Filters are fluval 205 and a fluval 2plus. The 205 pick up will be in a over flow so as not to get full of sand. Lighting will be either 50/50 10k or 6500k compact fluorescent. I would love to hear what your experiences with these are : Bumble bee goby (machts nichts) Sumo loach (schistura balteata) Steel blue lyretail killie (fundulopanchax gardneri nigerianus) Leopard frog pleco (Peckoitia sp. , L134) not sure if these will live in brackish water? Olive nerites snail (Neritina reclivata ) Fresh water flounder (Triectes maculatus) African Giant Filter Shrimp (Atya gabonensis) I know not brackish Plants : Anubias (coffeefolia) Java fern Water sprite Moss ball I know not all of these can live together, they are just the ones I am interested in and would like opinions on. If you know of any store (in Calgary) that has any of these right now would be great Thanks for any help Eric
