The box is smaller than the fixture .Are you using the straight CF or the round ones.They have some problems with the round as they shorted out at the first bend.That was in THE EAST.

You must use a box, weather proof boxes ? [connectors pipe covers ] and no connecting wires out side boxes or plugs.

At 250 a sq ft. tank 6ftx2.5ft =15 sf x250 =3750 lb you should be ok.

I agree...likely your problem, and if this sort of cleaning is not done ever 4 weeks or so, chances are the filter will not self-start if you have a power-cut (even a 3 second one).

You can usually feel the motor is hot when it is stuck. If it was cold and not working, you can garauntee a short or seized.

Buy a small tooth brush for cleaning works good for the impeller well to.

Up to last year in Edmonton we had a place called the Fish Pond all there tanks had the back 4-6 in divided

with glass and the top 3in was 1/2 in plastic from lights.No filter just large rockes on the bottoom up to smaller ones on top. O maintence for 20 yrs that i know.Ask Jay.
