I recieved my order from http://theplantguy.org/ The plants were healthy, in perfect condition and I am very happy with how they look in my tank. Shipping was quick, and I recieved free shipping becasue I spent over $50. I'm very pleased!

I am planning on setting up my new 36 gallon bowfront as a Walstad tank. Just gathering up some materials, replacing the light in the hood, and reading everything I can, and watching utube videos. I am excited to give this a try.

I just placed an order with this guy: http://theplantguy.org/ I will let you know how it goes. I sent him an e-mail and he answered my newbie questions right away. Becky

Can you tell me if the dry start method would work for a low tech, no CO2 tank?
-
Hey, I'm just getting back into the hobby. I've aquired a 75 gallon tank and light hood that sits on top of the tank. unfortuneatly there was not a glass top with the tank. Nor a center brace, or a plastic strip or any kind of plastic frame around the top of the glass. Is there anything I can do? The flourescent lights would be totally exposed to the water and I do not want that. Are there any kind of repair kits that are available? I can post a pic if needed. Becky

I have a cracking stand. The front two corners are coming apart, I only have a pic of the left side. I am draining the tank now, and will put the fish into Rubermaids. Any advice here? Tank is level, and its been set up since Sept. of '08. Thanks, Becky And since I can't seep to upload anything here, please see pics at my Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/17908830@N00/...eted=1477412038 There is a pic of the crack, tank and canopy. Just in case I decide to sell the darn thing.

How many Synodontis Petricolas should be in there? Can I try other bottom feeders and what do you recommend? Eventually I will have 10 Yellow labs, 12 Pseudotropheus saulosi and 10 Metriaclima callainos if I can find them. Thanks, Becky

Possibly, I see there is a bit of a lip around the top of the tank, about a 1/4" or so. Might work. I'll take some measurements into a glass shop.

I bought a used tank (Thanks, sharuq1) complete with 50+ cherry shrimp. I knew when I bought it the light was not working because the ballast is wrecked. I suspect due to the super condensation that I'm getting under the lid. Has anyone figured out a fix for this? I can replace the electrical stuff under the hood, but I think it won't last long because its just going to get soaked in a few days. If I use silicone around the little plastic cover, I won't be able to replace light bulbs, etc. So any ideas? I've e-mailed AquaGiant but so far no response. Thanks.

Fair enough. Do you have any suggestions as to what species will fit with the saulosis?
-
Alright, how does this look: 5 Aulonocara stuartgranti 6 Pseudotropheus saulosi 6 Labidochromis caeruleus I know this is a mixed malawi set up, but I think it will be very nice. If I wanted to add some red to the mix, what would you suggest? Also, what should the m/f ratio be? Thanks, B

Well that settles it, I'll be doing the half-assed approach. I will make sure there are plenty of hidey holes, and hope for the best. I am far to occupied with kids (we have 7 of them) and such to commit to any kind of "program". Thanks for your help!

I might like to breed them. But I am concerned with hybrids as I don't want junk fish that no one wants. No offense to those who love their hybrids Also, do I need multiple grow out tanks, and all that? I've only got the 90, a 30, an empty 20 and a 10. Maybe I don't have time to raise the fry. How much time/work is involved. Will they survive in the main tank?

I would love stocking suggestions. I am trying to learn the Latin names, but it can be a little overwhelming. I am interested in a mildly aggressive set up. I've been studying the Spencer Jack's list, and then checking in a book about species compatability, but I find I am nearly lost. I've tried asking for advice at pet stores, but I find sometimes employees are either too busy, or they just don't know about anything other than "1"/gallon". I'd also like to go to an auction somewhere, but there again, I'd have no idea what to purchase unless I get some advice before hand. so, help? Thanks.
