  1. Thank you both, so much for your answers, I will let you know in 7-10 days how it went.
  2. [Hi and welcome, I am in the Didsbury area, a great resource for information or for special ordering of wanted items is Gone Buggy Pet shop in Carstairs, Jeff is a great source of all kinds of help. Go on out a meet him you will be pleasantly pleased at the assistance he can offer. If he hasn't got it and you want it, it will be there by Tuesday! And his prices are comparable to Golds or Pisces in Calgary. So perhaps this is where you can have him find the 5 or 10 pounder you need. Welcome again Annemarie
  3. I have a 5" gold severum that has developed what looks like whiteheads on his face, and around his eye, he appears otherwise healthy. I have investigated and keep coming up with lymphocystis as a diagnosis, but I have not added any new fish to my tank for at least 8 months, the water parameters are all stable and normal, no spikes anywhere. I don't feed live food, just the occasional thawed shrimp,(human consumption grade) and a varied flake and pellet diet. I do water changes of 25% weekly with a deep vacuuming, (105 g tank). Other fish in the tank are breeding, the parrots lay their non fertile eggs and the mouth breeders keep spitting out their babies, so it appears a healthy tank. What I require is a treatment for my beautiful fish, his partner would be lost without him/her. Please help, I am greatly concerned, Thank you
  4. Congratulations on the spawn, hope everything works out!! BUT, your background, did you make it? Do you have a larger photo? Is it, as it appears, 3 dimensional? Thankx and again good luck on those beauties.
  5. My son has a Red Devil Tank, a mated pair, do you know NO ONE wants the fry, he calls his male Demos, works well cause he is P.O.T.S. LOL
  6. so sorry 55l meant 55 gallon long, never think in liters, thats a government conspiracy (LOL) but I think I may have found an answer to my problems, I am finding them all a new home!!!! and I will have a free tank!!! Ohhh Discus?, angels, ohhh the choices!!!!!
  7. I have a 55l with what has become a 2 species tank, not that you would know it as you NEVER see the fish. I have a large group of Cobalt Blues and a large group of Yellow Labs in a rocky tank, the yellows are the Left end Gang and the Blues are the Right side bullies. I did have 6 tiger barbs, big ones, 3 green and 3 orange in there, but they ate the Green ones, they killed off a female P.S. Nicholsi, almost killed the male, ripped apart a red tailed shark, saved him in time, so now they are all alone. So, I have learned they are MEAN, and nothing will be added to the tank, just maintain the balance that is there now. Finally my question, these fish appear to be subterranean, they live UNDER THE ROCKS in caves and tunnels they have created and come out for feeding time or a quick cruise, so my question is, how do I correct this? Or is it just the behavior of this species? Should I remove the rocks and use more of a bare landscape? Should I create a pile of rocks in the centre of the tank instead of along the walls of the tank? Would this correct the disappearing fish phenomenon? Please any and all advice would be welcomed as they just don't look happy. Thankx
