Navigator, how thick are those rubber mats? If they are 1/2" thick or over, I would just use them, and skip the plywood. Unless your painting and completely sealing the edges of the plywood, it will just warp on you if it gets wet anyway. Just use the rubber alone should be enough to level things out. Boom :boom:

I'm with Vals thinking on this one I think. Are you dechlorinating the water somehow? Maybe treat it before adding it to the tank, and see if that changes things. Boom :boom:

Looks good Blake. I definitely think black sand would be better. Or even natural tan sand, I don't like the white. Very very weird how that rock split on you. Boom :boom:

Noodles, AWESOME fish and congrats on them breeding for you! I'm hoping one day my F1 Mpimbwe's will "do the deed". Not sure tho as they have some tankmates and no real good caves at this point. And my biggest male is only about 5", so maybe they're not ready yet anyway. Any tankmates with the fronts in your tank? Boom :boom:

no problem. They sell food, water conditioner, meds, lots of stuff. My last order I added a couple digital thermometers to take me over. They work great too, no regrets. Boom :boom:

I thought it might lower them a bit. I still have that big rock and some other smaller ones, the same as whats in my 180. I know you were interested before. Thats funny. Out of curiousity, what are your water parameters at? (PH, hardness etc?) Seems like alot of driftwood and plants for an African tank. Looks good though if ya like that sorta thing! Boom :boom:

As promised, pictures of my latest project(s). End grain cutting boards made of rock maple and purple heart. These are the highest quality cutting boards, used by proffesional chefs and butchers alike. Hope you like 'em. Boom :boom:

I am currently working on another larger project, an entertainment cabinet made of walnut and zebrawood. I also have a few smaller projects in the finish stages, a pair of endgrain (butcher block style) kitchen cutting boards. I will post both of these as soon as I'm done them. This is my most recent completed project. It's a hall table I designed and built for my sister and her new hubby for their wedding gift. Designing this table was a lot of fun as it's a bit more of a complex curvy design that much of my other stuff. I wanted something really unique, classy, and very high quality for them. The table top is a hair under 13" wide and is a single piece of quarter sawn Bubinga. The base of the table is made from African Mahogany. The table features a floating top design. My sister and hubby loved it. You'll have to take my word for it that the pictures just don't do this piece justice. The figure in this wood is stunning. I already have a request from a friend to built them a similar table. Boom :boom:

This is part 2 (of 5) of the bedroom suite I am building for my wife. Her dresser. Designed to look modern in style, it is solid walnut with zebrawood accent. The drawers are made from solid yellow birch. The wife of coarse loves it and it affords her quite a bit more clothing storage space than her old crappy dresser did. Still remaining to complete for the bedroom suite is my dresser (upright) and 2 night tables. I hope to have those done by the end of the year. Boom :boom:

A coworker of mine does a bit of hunting. He wanted a nice clean place to store his rifles, bow and ammo. I designed this storage area for him to do just that, plus the large solid maple top allows him a place to work on and clean his guns if he chooses. Notice the curly maple I used in this project as well. This is just stunning wood. In fact the curly maple I used for the mallets were scrap pieces from this project. Anyway, the customer was very happy with the outcome of this design and he loves the rustic feel of the piece. And 'cause I know someone will probably ask, yes it is completely legal to store weapons and ammunition in locked cases in this fashion. Boom :boom:

WOW. It has been a loooooong time since I posted any new woodworking projects! I really should smarten up. Ok so here are a few more recent stuff. These are a few cabinet maker's mallets that I made. I made one for me and one for my dad as a Fathers day gift. He does some woodworking as well. I was once told by someone very wise that a true woodworker is one that makes some of his own tools. Well, this is my first real tool that I've made. It is great for banging on chisels, persuading wood into or out of place, and other such tasks. The wood is curly rock maple and jatoba. Boom :boom:

Well I gotta say, I've never seen anyone cut glass with a circular saw before. Very unorthidox. Glad it worked for you though! Good to see you've been doing some work on this. Keep posting the progress. Boom :boom:
