  1. Geez whiz those are massive! What do you have going in them? Whales? Jeff
  2. I'm about to drill my 30gallon, doing the bottom is a bad idea? To the OP: I can lend you my drill bit from MOPS in a couple weeks if you need it. Jeff
  3. That's totally awesome. Have you considered keeping something exotic, like... crocodiles? Congrats on the score!
  4. And what is the difference between standard thread and double thread bulkhead fittings? Sidenote: Is black ABS pipe aquarium safe?
  5. The simplicity of the system suddenly just clicked in my head. Doh! Thanks from everyone for the tips!
  6. Now, how does that work with a powerhead or pump? How do you keep the rate it pumps back up the same as it drains? How does it not empty or overflow? They will only be maybe 30 inches apart. Thanks! Jeff
  7. Perfect, thanks. What is the general size to use?
  8. So I have purchased a 20 gallon, and 2 10 gallons to sit under it. I would like to plumb the 20 and one 10 together. The third will be the hospital tank. I have never done this before. What size PVC is average to use, and what size hole do I want to drill? Does anyone have a bit I can borrow? How does a drain/plumbing work? Links would be great. Thanks for any help! Jeff
  9. I will do that. The tang right now is about 2.5". I feel like I saved him from his loneliness at Petcera in WEM. He was the 2nd last SW fish there, and very sad and lonely!
  10. I added some Stability, and Cycle. I don't have any Prime. I do have the Seachem Reefpack, should I be adding any of that stuff? PH is at 8.2, Ammonia is close to 0. In the tank I have 2 nec snails, 10or so hermits, bristle worms of course, some mushrooms, a pulsing xenia, a brain coral, and the Scopias Tang. This tank has been setup for maybe 2 months. Before that I had the same water and liverock running for 2 months in a smaller tank. Before that it was run for about a year. It is around 20lbs of liverock in the 30gallon. 4" deep sand bed.
  11. I will do that. Isn't there a way I can test for Nitrite with my Nitrate test kit?
  12. Help me! My tank has spiked in Nitrate, and I lost my Yellowtail Damsel yesterday. I changed 25% water. Today when I came home my cleaner shrimp was dead. Tested, Nitrates are just as horrible. I have a Scopias Tang in there right now who I am really worried about. I am very busy over the next couple of days and am afraid he will die before I can do anything serious. Any suggestions? Otherwise, is there someone with a suitable tank willing to babysit my tang for a few days or a week? Thanks, Jeff
  13. I'm thinking about drilling and creating an overflow on my new 77gallon before I set it up. It is an older Hagen tank. Is there anyone out there with the experience and tools and who would be willing to help me? I am in west Edmonton. Jeff
