    Frogs

I was just wondering how well a couple of frogs would do in my 120 gallon tank. I have platies/mollis/red eyed tetras/penguin tetras/2 tinfoil barbs/gold fined babs/chery barbs/skirted tetras. Would they have problems swimming up to the surface (the tank is quite tall), and would any of my fish pick on the frogs. I should mention i have 3 long finned skirted tetras and none of the fish pick at their fins, so none of my fish appear to be overly aggressive.
  2. I was just wondering roughly how many algae wafers I should feed two 12 inch Pleco's a day/night. I also have some platies/mollies/snails that also eat the algae wafers. I was giving them about 2-3 in the morning and 3-4 at night. The reason i ask is because my plecos are actively searching for food during the day (and since they are mostly nocturnal i'm guessing it's because they're hungry and the mollies/platys are eating most of the algae wafer before they get a chance) BUT i noticed today that my water is a green color, which i'm guessing is from over feeding of both the algae wafers and fish food. BTW: I have a 120 gallon aquarium, and about +-60 fish (most of them are under/around 1 inch)
  3. Hey, I'm new here so i'm not entirely sure if this is were i'm supposed to be posting my question or not...if it's not can someone please tell me and i'll move it Anyways, I recently bought 130 gallon aquarium because i recently inherited two 12 inch pleco's from my uncle. They were living in a 30 gallon tank for god knows how long, but I didn't feel that was humane so after a bit of saving and some bargain hunting I came across and bought the 130 gallon aquarium I have now. The only problem is that i don't have 8 weeks to cycle the new tank since the plecos are growing and since they are in such cramped conditions their tails are starting to curve into what i come only image to be a painful position. I filled the tank up last night and dechlorinated it as well as putting in 1/3 of the water from the 30 gallon tank (that i've had running for a couple months now) as well as some decorations (plants and a vase type thing) along with some of the gravel that was in the old tank. I also added some cycle. I was just wondering when would be a safe time to move my plecos and my other fish (3 platys and 4 skirted tetras) into the larger tank. I was considering keeping both tanks running for a couple of weeks but I just found out that it isn't safe (since i live in an unfinished basement there are no plug ins, everything has to be connected to a powerbar, and if I have too many things going at once it could start a fire). I was wondering if it would be ok to put the fish in the new tank within the next day or two (it's the weekend so i'll be at home to watch for any signs of fire and what not) since i've added some of the water from the cycled tank into the new tank-will the good bacteria be able to thrive fast enough to elimanate any dangerous ammonia or nitrate chemicals in the water? I tested the PH and it is about 7.5, the ammonia, nitrate, nitrite is currently at zero, but i'm guessing that's because there is no biological waste to create them. p.s-I will definetly wait until the tank has been completly cycled to add more fish to the tank.
  4. When I bought fish from walmart (I bought some mollies and some platy's as well as 2 skirted tetra's to go along with my other four) they ALL died within days...PLUS they gave my entire tank ick which killed some of the other fish I had in there. In any case, they said there was a 14 day return policy...I don't think it should matter what walmart branch you get it from, they should all have the same return policy for their fish. Maybe you just caught someone on a bad day, or maybe the store just doesn't want to have to write it off the dead fish. who knows. If you spent alot of money on them you could try phoning the district manager and talk to him about it (or you can just ask the customer service for the # and they might just give in rather then have to deal with a potentially upset district manager) good luck!
  5. I'm so jealous! you took some really great pictures, your tank looks AWESOME!

    Hey

Hey My name is Gina and I just wanted to say hello! I recently bought a 130 gallon aquarium to house two 12 inch plecos. My uncle gave me his 30 gallon aquarium with these two lovely guys in it, and after a couple months of saving I was able to buy them a much nicer and humane tank. I also have 3 sunburst platy's and 4 skirted tetra's. Once my tank has cycled I plan on getting seveal other species of fish to help fill the tank (since i'm sure my 7 little guys will look really weird in such a huge tank). Anyways, I guess that's it. I look forward to getting to know some more of you a bit better Gina
