  1. Perhaps this would then come down to the water available to you, as my fish did poorly and were dropping like flies until I started adding salt.
  2. I use salt in my Guppy, tetra, white cloud tank I add a small amount of salt with every water change, mine are in a 30 gal tank and I might add a tablespoon of salt every time, just enough to say I added salt, and they all seem to do really well with this....Ive had the tetras and white cloud for about a year now and the guppies almost as long they are extremely prolefic....LOL
  3. When I first got into fish I didnt add the salt, and many of my fish died off, once I started adding the salt they did amazing, started reproducing like crazy, and yes my first fish were guppies, mollies, platties and goldfish. I add just a bit less than what the box calls for in the size of tank you have type thing. I do this for ALL my fish.
  4. Whew thanks Jason!!! I just couldnt remember what the heck she called it, the female is holding but Im not sure if the daddy is same or demonsoni...that tank is so full of fake plants, rocks and driftwood I cant see most of the bottom of it, but the fish can get down to the bottom, I just cant see them...LOL, so I have no idea. Thanks again!! Lisa
  5. Does anyone have any idea???? I was told it was one of those _____ AFRA types but I dont remember what their full name is????
  6. I bought a trio of fish a while back, and I cant remember what they are called...can someone help me??? picture is of male and 2 of female...both pictures are of the same female, with different lighting. Thanks for your help Lisa
  7. The HWYs are in terrible shape, collisions all over the place, I cant hardly get out my driveway, and Lana said they cant even tell which is the road and which is the ditch out there way....so it doesnt look good for us folks in the north to show up, and we are in for more snow and high winds again tonight. I really need to get some plecos, I have been waiting for this auction for so long, and now this....guess I have to just go to the darn pet store or something to find some plecos for my tanks...I need at least three and dont want normal plecos....something to add dazzle to my tanks, but not break the bank at the same time....huge bummer....maybe the Auction will get cancelled and I will still get my chance to get nice plecos....LOL Lisa
  8. I have bought two types from ebay, the first set I tried to hatch, I got 0 fish, as mentioned above the peat was completely dried out, the second batch I just threw in so I guess I will know in a short time, I emptied all of it in the jar to hatch out, last time I tried to take just a bit at a time...but I got frustrated and just am not expecting any to hatch, so in they all went, the ones I am trying to hatch now are Nothobranchius Eggersi red, so guess we will see. By the way the brime shrimp I got from the same place, they hatch extremely easy within about 24 hours even... Lisa
  9. I have mixed in my tank as well, I have a few peacocks, some fronts, some Dolphins and of coarse some Brichardis I love them as well, and they do very well in my tank. Lisa
  10. Welcome to the MTS group...LOL! Lisa
  11. I have some of the Afra "Blue Reef" as well, I got them from a gal off kijiji, she had several for sale then, I just bought three from her, and they are still just over an inch, so I wont be having anything for some time yet. I have a 47 gal corner tank, and a 80 gal tank both with Cichlids, for yellows I have electric yellows, all were gorgeous bright yellow, but now two are getting very dirty looking, I wanted lots of color, so I also got Aceis, red zebras, frontosas, dolphins, polits, demonsonis (polits are way more agressive) and some hybrid obs, as I dont care for breeding, I just was after color, I also have some eye bitters, red tops, ruby reds Lisa
  12. wahoo that is awesome, I have been trying to hatch some killies myself, the ones I have are peat types, so I cant even see the eggs there was to be 30 eggs in the container, so far after two weeks of soaking in water I got nothing. Lisa
  13. The eggs are in a gel oval "sack" I have gone in and removed all the eggs off one of the plants, and while I was at it I removed about 30 snails...This tank started out with just four snails....about 3 months ago...so its reproduction is crazy... I really dont know anything about snails...I would guess the hitch hiker I have is the smaller type of the ramshorn as they are not very big at all.
  14. Well the first snails I got purposely were trumpet snails I believe then I bought some planets and they came with baggage...and I have no idea what kind of snail they are, they look more like the type you see in the sloughs...LOL Well Im not waiting for them to hatch I will go in and scrap them all off all the leaves, oh and yes these are under water, very close to the bottom of the tank, and are on the larger leaves...I put loads of plants in this tank so my guppies could mass reproduce...haha Lisa
  15. oh and you can have all 7 clutches for a nickle!! Lisa
