  1. Nice red cheeks...! Great looking flagtail ... you are making me wish i keep them all for myself haha Let me know if you decided to not have the clown loaches in your tank one day.... i am keen on expanding my clown loach tank =))
  2. I am really glad you are happy with your aros and how they have developed for you ryan.
  3. the sr is lookin good and has grown so much. keep us updated
  4. your xb has grown so much! still young... as long as light is kept low and xb has specks on 6th level, there is good chance it will cross in a couple years
  5. bmbxb or most bluebase tend to cross slower compared to other xb... anyway nice tank and a a very broad and big aro u have there!!
  6. Another update of the crossback and it has new tank mates! Flower rays too... beautiful combination... Photos kindly taken by Charles... Feel free to comment! 100% Pearlies Aro and his friends
  7. Thanks for the kind comments guys! ryan... you want a bbxb?
  8. Just sharing a crossback's transformation from Nov 2008 to Feb 2009... comments welcomed...note: my photography sucks so pls don't comment on it :smokey: Some blurry photos taken by my old digital cam: Video The crossback in Nov 2008 - The crossback now..(Video taken today Feb 10, 2009) -
  9. very nice loach tank !! i wish i can have a similar setup....
  10. wow impressive comm you have there!
  11. no prob~ am happy to share my experiences...though i can be wrong at times....
  12. I dont mean to hijack this thread but isn't drop eye caused by to much protein or fat in the diet? Thats just what I had read. diet, environment and genetics play a part... but if you are talking about genes, Super reds are more prone then any other aros cos they simply tend to have more fatty deposits behind the eyes. (this is a known fact amongst most breeders) many aro keepers have experienced this problem with too strong lights and after they either put the arowanas in mud ponds or some cover up their tanks and keep the aros in darkness for a couple weeks ....it appears that the DE becomes better~ the thing is to catch the problem early....from what i can see in rudy's case, i am very sure the bbxb came without DE and being such a young aro diet wouldn't have played such a huge part at all. Thus the only thing is environment which he is using 2 x 10000k lights.... too strong imo... i was lazy to fix up a cool white FL and used 6700k T5 and it causes the DE in the xb that i have now....like i have said these are my personal experiences ... i have nothing scientific to back me up...
  13. nice xb ~~ but personally i feel your lights are too strong for the bbxb and it might lead to DE ... you do not need to tan a xb... if you saw the xb photos that i posted...i have less powerful lights and it still causes the slight DE on one side... as per your question to how to prevent it, cover the tank up with newspaper or use whatever...cover it up and leave the xb in darkness for 2-3weeks you will see a marked difference... to use this method effectively u have to apply it when the DE problem is not too severe if not it will not work if you allow the problem to get worse.. Plus having those strong lights will result in a xb with a 'burnt' back which means the crossback will never fully cross due to that. just sharing my own personal experience...i could be wrong
  14. What is the deffect? Is it a bit of drop eye on the right side? Theo, you do have a sharp eye. Yes the defect this particular aro have and which i have also mentioned on other forums is that he has slight DE. HE was first sold to a customer who was fully aware of it. He had it for a week and decided he did not want it because of the DE and i took him back and gave him a full refund. Thus i am keeping him since i do like his development and the slight DE do not bother me at all.
