  1. Its one of my "Neolamprologus leleupi" They have been doing a bit of lip - locking.. I will likely isolate this one and see how it does on its own. I suspect he/she did not win the lip - lock game. The other one that it happened to was a very small black calvus... As it has happened to 2 fish someone is trying to establish territory and winning.. Thanks for the replies. much appreciated!
  2. yeah thanks! It is a 'dislocated jaw' I wish I could just pop it back into place for the fish... It looks terrible. I hope it can still eat ok.
  3. same tank. this is the second fish...
  4. I have a fish that has his jaw sticking out. He/she can't retract it. I assume it was pulled out in a fight and got pulled out to far. Will he recover? Is it pulled out for ever? Broken? Can it live like this? Anyone have any clue what I am talking about? Mooose
  5. I wonder this everytime I add liquid fert to my 10 gallon plant tank. Does everyone try to dose in the morning? I always end up doing it in the evening. Any benefit to doing it ine morning or evening. Does the plant absorb it over time / light help it? Moose
  6. Thanks all for your replies. I was doing a water change on this tank and I think he jumped for it during the process. I haven't found the proof.. Hopefully I find it before someone else does. It is a sealed top tank and the only way to feed is by opening the top. RIP hatchet.....
  7. My hatchet fish have decide to do something new with the evening feedings.. They position them self to jump out of the tank at the food when it is in my hands. It has happened 3 times now. I doubt this will end pretty one of these times one of them is going to run out of luck and hit the carpet... Now I am doing a hatchet count after feeding.... crazy fish... Moose
  8. the worst smell ever to me is a dead snail. I suspect it might smell alot like a dead fish in a shell
  9. I have normal evaporation where I top up once or twice between water changes.. Just seemed like it was really dropping the last few days and that I've been adding water to all my tanks everyday. Just seemed strange... (even on the really tight lid tanks...) Thanks for the replies everyone, Moose
  10. I am topping up all my tanks daily right now. Anyone else experiencing this? At least I don't have to worry about mold. Moose
  11. I haven't tried that but I did pick up this one and like it. Not sure if you can get it locally. Probably can: http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/store_p...uct_ID=fd-shat2
  12. as promised: Shrimp: I got my shrimp from brine shrimp direct in the states. They guarantee a 70% hatch rate. I am pretty sure they are hatching at a better rate than that. I've been storing them in the tin in the fridge. Hatchery: I broke down and got this: http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/store_p...uct_ID=fd-shat2 It is a Hatchery Cone Base that you connect airline and your air pump to the bottom of a pop bottle. Just cut the bottle at the bottom of the curve. Screw it on. Fill it half full. add shrimp and salt. Turn on the air pump and wait 24-48 hours depending on light / room temp. I also cover the end of the pop bottle with saran wrap so that it keeps the water / eggs inside. Serving Suggestion: Once hatching done. Add a small amount of fresh water. This will separate the shrimp from the hatched eggs. Then draw the eggs out the air tube at the bottom. Rinse the shrimp and serve them up. YUM. Mooooose
  13. I will write it out and post it here tonight
  14. I've been having great hatch rates on my bbs lately. Tonight all the tanks got bbs for dinner... Lots of bbs...
  15. If you have a ton maybe charge by the cup full
  16. Perhaps I will stick to feeding them the microwave popcorn.. (kidding)
  17. Colby was calling it something other than Texas Rock.. At least the rock I got off him. It is wicked!
  18. Anyone ever try this? Sounds fishy to me... :eh: I might try it and I will let you know if the results are favorable.. Clearly I have too many brine shrimp eggs if I am even considering something like this. Moose
  19. Thank you very much for posting this. The area should be cut off and turned into a protected space. Not likely that will happen. Time to go and adjust my Galaxy Tank TEMP on my tank down a touch and grab a bunch more plants....
  20. You might have a good point. I put some plant in and it attacked it less than a week ago.. Would algea tabs work until i get some more live plant snack? Mooose
  21. My one apple snail has been growing like a weed. He/she Has been spending lots of time at the surface almost out of the water lately. Is this normal for these guys? Should I be concerned? mooose

  24. I often us a plastic cup to move smaller fish around like guppies or killi and spare them the risk of hurting them with a net. That thing would be probably work pretty good.. You could use it for punch as well.. haha Moose
