  1. ya ,135 +1 aro + 3 oscar = 1 dead aro
  2. i plan on breeding mine in the next 6 months.
  3. so i have had my bettas together for a week(divided)and dad has a big bubble nest ,but mom still has no bars and is slightly eggs bound. She only has the two clssic stripes down her sides and seems to want to see the big daddy ,so any ideas of what to do ??
  4. o.k ,so i have decided to breed my old male betta "cheese cake" to my female betta "saphire" and see what happens. Im still new to betta spawning and want to know ,should i let "cheese cake" make a bubble nest and then put "saphire" in the tank with a divider ,or should i put "saphire" and "cheese cake" in at the same time on different sides of the divider ??
  5. Yes she will be fine.. that's really strange she would get beat up so badly.. they might have been two female alpha's sparing for top of the tank... or, they infact aren't females... but your girl will be just fine, make sure you add epson salt to the water.. let her rest in a safe spot warm up the water just a bit more... you should see some of my females after a spawn, they look like crap ... !! They grow everything back and will be just as good as gold but only in a few months .. theyere most def both females ,most likey sparring for top of tank ,but hes by a heat lamp for warmth and i added some salt and anitibiotics. (its a shame ,i was hoping to spawn her to my halfmoon this month ,but now i need to wait a month for healing and a month for condishoning
  6. Well today i went and got myself 2 beautiful female bettas ,and thinking that its was o.k i put them together in a 5 gallon tank with lots of fake plants and i then then go out for a fun day at wabamun lake. So i get home 4 hours later i find my stunning red female torn apart in the corner ,it looks like she got spawned with. I hope that she will be o.k
  7. yup no kidding :smokey: but i have a theory about garden eels. Its that they dont swim they just sorta sit burried in the sand with theyre heads out ,so theroredicly a garden eel dosnt really need all that big of a tank.
  8. o.k ,well i re-did my tank plans ,and have got a nice little nano think going ,and a check list thing for stuff i got (btw tank has been cycling for a month) Ocellaris Clownfish 5 hermit crabs 1 bumble bee snail thats all and i got a peanut worm ,i hate it (thank god it only gones out at night) and after a recent visit to a fish store i have a craving for sea apples ,garden eels and hawaiian flame wrasses.
  9. although i cant help much with the sickness ,well water can often be awsome for africans ,with them likeing hard water and such...my grandpa lives on a farm and keeps africans and they do fine ,breeding like crazy..
  10. umm thats 3 pieces and ya ,i do think its to much fish now and i plan on adding some more live rock went i go to Big Als this week. *edited first post*
  11. So i've gone abouts and have started up a reef tank .As i write this the tank will have been cycleing for 11 days and doing well. So far ive got in 10.5 pounds of live-rock and got a couple of "fun" hich-hickers...to be more specific a blue leeged heremit crab and an un-identified crab.I also got some orange-brown zoo's growing and the LR. hhmmm notmuch else to say...so ttaankkk llissttt Fish Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) Orange Striped Goby (Amblyeleotris randalli) and if you guys think its alright Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica) Inverts Pistol Shrimp(Alpheus sp) Cleaner Crew 5 Blue Legged Hemit-Crabs (Clibanarius tricolor or Calcinus elegans) 3 Bumble-Bee Snails (sp?) Coral Green Bubble Coral (Plerogyra sinuosa) Rose/Red Open Brain Coral (Trachyphyllia radiata or Trachyphyllia geoffroyi) Candy Coral (Caulastrea furcata) Metallic Green Candy Coral (Caulastrea sp?) cool pink soft coral that i saw at aquarium illusions thats pretty much all oh ya and heres a pic. (pic removed coz i have a more updated pic coming soon)
  12. yes clownfish will fan there eggs but the fry have little chance of surviving and pigama cardinalfish do indeed hold theyre eggs but as i said survival chances are low.
  13. Ya ,this is one of the funnest threds that ive been in :smokey: (im still sticking to my original plans incase you thought i was going crazy)
  14. OOHHHH cool all the way ,im so going to japan and buying one ,i think i should get some basking sharks to
  15. acctually i reconcidered my plans ,now im getting a marine betta ,a triggerfish ,a squirrel fish ,and a banded snake-eel LOL
  16. ya ,i have to add fresh water(with condishoner) to a.Keep water level up b.Keep to salinity from going over 1.27
  17. ROFL ,i was acctually gonna get an AquaC remora ,but i cant find any-one who sells them.
  18. yes ,i have heard some bad and good reveiws over the rio nano ,but for my current money situation its the only thing that i can afford but over the pipefish delema i am still thinking about it ,but im leaning towards a banded pipe more then a blue pipe (not list thingy) Banded Pipefish pros:cheap ,easier to care for ,pretty ,my cardinalfish wont try and eat it cons:biggish Blue Striped Pipefish pros:small ,pretty cons:expencive ,small(cardinalfish may nip at it) ,harder to care for as for the lighting its seems that i know what to get now and am for the most part sorted out (oh ya ,im getting a candy corals ,normal and green ) (lastest word.....i have zoo's growing on mah live rock ,its a good sign..right)
  19. ya ,i forgot i also want a few snails ,and have also decided to get 1 or 2 blue striped pipefish ya know ,these ones pipefish.bmp
  20. OMG the rare convict oscar LOL
  21. o.k ,so my tanks is ten gallons and as for lighting im not sure ,but any suggestions would be nice ,and i have found a few "suprizes" in my LR(live rock) aka a crab and blue legged hermit crab.
  22. So i finally got the money and time and have started up a saltwater tank. As of now its only cycling and I have just added in 9 pounds of live rock and the salinity is right in the middle of 1.021 and 1.022(sorry ,mah test kits are dead) and I plan on adding the following Fish 1 Banggai Cardinalfish (Pterapogon Kauderni) 1 Orange Striped Goby (Amblyeleotris Randalli) Inverts 5 Blue Legged Hermit-Crabs a cleaner shrimp of sorts Coral 1 Red Open Brain Coral 1 Green Bubble Coral 1 Candy Coral Tabk Stuff 1 Roi Nano Skimmer+filter 1 Heater 1 Hydrometer ya ,so thats pretty much all(pics soon) and I know that i Have to wait 2 ot so weeks to test my water and see if its safe for the first fish. -Scott
  23. *huf* i was hoping to spend my money on my salt water tank(ya ,i decided not to get the aro anytime soon ,unless a 200 gallon cycled tank randomly poofs out of no wheres im mah fish room) but i suppose that i could buy a biiger tank for my mota and goldie.
