  1. You should probably be able to grow anything in there with that light
  2. The 10 G I use have 2 desklamps with CFL daylight bulbs in it and the plants seem to thrive. Temporary ideas are better than nothing sometimes.
  3. I now remember, cause when I google map'd 305-116ave it gave a lcoationa few blocks from where I live but there's nothing there at 30st. The location was 116ave and 3st, off yellowhead past 17st before Henday lol
  4. He he, I fixed it I liked it the other way, but that's just me lol
  5. Not sure exactly how it might work, but I'd like to see that waste water diverted back into the R/O unit to see if any more water would come out clean lol
  6. Wonderful looking photos and amazing fish Would just like to point out an extremely Scandinavian thing just for my amusement... Februari :shifty:
  7. Sil Industries isn't really far away. Its by 30st and 116th Ave. It's further than 30st... its like 16st or something, it's just past 17st off the yellowhead
  8. No problems with SIL-9 for me at all.
  9. Depending on how much you actually need (and if you dont mind your standard blue/multicolor) I've got some spare kicking around I could get rid of.
  10. I guess that depends how much the boy likes you...
  11. I worked at a home depot, its amazing the cost of stuff you'd have to write off to do the job lol
  12. Ooooh! I wanna play Name that Plant! The mystery plant- I can't remember what it's called, but I think it's a non-aquatic species However, I think your hairgrass is actually Sagittaria subulata, and your swords are really crypts (Cryptocoryne wendtii?) Cool crab! Looks alot like wendtii to me
  13. Well, I have 2 that I can see on my tanks glass, ontop of the worms lol
  14. From the lists you posted there... I have a few Limpets kicking around... But this sounds similar to what I'd have been seeing... I noticed alot of dead flies on the surface slime layer and what looked alot like when gas pools around a car during spring in the melted water; when I noticed the worms originally. They seem to only affect my nice Hygro and my chain sword. Its a cold water tank, so I'm not sure if I'd want to raise the temperature or add anything... but I am tempted to add a Bristlenose to the tank in hopes that removal of the algae will eliminate them?
  15. whoa! Looks like little algae tubes on the leaves of my plants
  16. Sounds like "Planaria" to me... Google "aquarium planaria" for a fix. <edit> you beat me to it...(slow typer here) Well some are planaria... But not all, the others are actual worms that are eating the plants... As they eat they seem to form a "cocoon" out of the waste in which they live then poke out the top to eat.
  17. I've been putting both in the tank with my 3 bristlenoses, sometimes you see them on the zuccini/wafer... But more often than not the snails are the ones finishing them off in the mornings, makes me wonder how much they actually eat when there's no algae to gorge themselves on. I really like the setup you have now Nick, wish mine was that simple lol
  18. Nope, I know some are Planaria and those aren't detrimental to the tank, they say its a result of overfeeding and such... I havn't had any food at all in this tank... Just need to clean up the plants, stir up some of the gravel, do a bunch of water changes and all should be well.
  19. Whoa, I've never seen anything like that in an aquarium before. Don't suppose you can take a picture? I've tried to google a picture of what you described turned up with zero. way too small to photograph i'd say... Almost look like Plankton or something
  20. To me they look like your basic fruitfly, sometimes with longer antennae And the worms are like a clearish/green and just move wriggling about, seems like they're destroying my plants... Looks to be little white spec-like worms too
  21. Little update, I think my nirtrites/Ammonia are now at 0, but I have a little problem with "worms". It appears as if there are fly (fruit fly or something) larvae swimming and eating my plants... Would it hurt the white clouds to add them or would they take care of the issue?
  22. For CFL its pretty much "daylight" or bust lol
  23. I've never seen a shrimp affected by excel/ferts for me lol
  24. You'd probably be best to use dechlor tap water due to the added elements in tap water. Not to say that you couldn't use the RO
  25. I've been meaning to try this since learning about it in a psych class, they did it with Gouramis, where they took a light shined it on the Gourami then presented a female. Took her out and kinda repeated it, eventually giving him the light increased sperm + fertility then gave him the girl lol. Something along those lines would be neat to try.
