  1. Neat, that guy is a real smith alright! I didn't even know NAIT had blacksmith class' and I've been going there for two years.
  2. Here are my poor plants, I still dunno whats wrong with them.
  3. Here is my 20 gallon tank. My Canister: Marineland C-160 Some of my cichlids...
  4. Some pictures of me taking the crucible out ready for pouring into a bread pan (Don't take pictures yourself when doing this its dangerous, leave that to stupid people like me). The loot! That's all I pictures I took today. I'm also out of aluminum. If you have any that you would like to get rid of PM me. I'll pick it up!
  5. This is a hobby I took up last summer. Basically, I'm melting down any aluminum I can get my hands on (Except pop cans). I've been making ingots for another project I will attempt this summer. Since I've started, I've built three furnaces all using a homemade refractory recipe and a variety of other materials. I've used charcoal, propane, and oil for fuel. So far a lot of everything I've experienced since then has been a lot of trial and error but I'm getting better. Here are some pictures taken today, using my current setup. Propane-fueled with a high-pressure regulator. A 10ft HP hose connected to a gas value which controls the output of my atmospheric burner, AKA venturi-style burner (my own design) Here are some threaded aluminum pipes I obtained today, which will be fed into the furnace. Some night-time flame shots...
  6. I never saw one before. Nice looking fish. Great shots as well.

    Boom's Woodworking

I've never seen a wooden vase like that. The finish on each square makes them look like glass! What type of wood makes that bright red? or is it stained?
  8. O, they are beautiful! Pseudotropheus socolofi I need to get this 100 gallon tank up!
  9. Neat. But like most things that are eye-catching they can also be high-maintenance. Cleaning that little corridor, I think, would start getting on my nerves quickly.

    Howdy

    Hello and :welcome:
  11. That's an awfully big meal. How's he going to fit that in him?

    Boom's Woodworking

Wow, very creative Boom. The paint job on the rocking-motorcycle is fantastic! The picture with the table in the corner with the glass windows over-looking the ground gives me vertigo. I feel dizzy looking at it...

    Boom's 55 Gallon

Good to know Boom. Did you get a deal on the Synos? How/where did you get that many?
  15. Not sure then. Most people I know will either quarantine the sick fish or do a large water change. But in some cases those do more harm than good.
  16. In the summer I did 7 hours. When I'm awake/home: 6:30am - 10:00am and evening 6:30pm - 10:00pm Now that we loose so much light by 3:00pm winter hours are: 4:00pm - 11:00pm
  17. I'm just a little shaken due to the fact that a carpenter just said he approved my wooden frame design. If only the rest of the world were like that! As for the rest of the plans. I may have them this Sunday if time permits. I'm going to look into a few options for doors, something simple. The same goes for the exterior. I'll pick-up some lumber and start building the frame as well. How can I create my own sub-forum in member journal section?
  18. Alright, here is an updated frame design.
  19. Sounds like my kind of growing. All I do is leave a tank by an open window with the lights on 24/7!
  20. Thanks Boom. I always appreciate your comments. I was trying to wrap my head around those two verticals in order to fit a sump. I think completely removing them would be a mistake which would affect the over-all structural integrity of the stand. So I think I'm going to move the two middle one outwards. Regarding the screws: I have a 1/4 of a box left over, I found it in the garage when I cleaned it out before the new year after I got the gas heater in there fixed (Its warm, and nice place to work in now!). I'll try and redo the stand dimensions sometime today so I can get your feed back before the weekend (I would like to pick-up the lumber this weekend.) I gotta run, class at 8:15
  21. Very cool! How did you attach it to the driftwood before it started to grow?
  22. Aw, I like little white clouds. If its gasping at the surface and you say there is no ammonia than it couldn't be ammonia poisoning. Only other thing I can think-of based on your described is oxygen starvation. Are there any other fish swimming near the top? There is the possibility that the tank is over-crowded? What do the eyes look like? Look normal? Other than that I don't really know? Anyone else suggestions?
