  1. No never seen it i would just build in myself if i was you get plastic sheet and drill holes
  2. yes thats very true not as much wattage and metal halide can penitrate below 24 inches in water where as florencents and haligens cannot sure light does but not the uv part
  3. I just built my own metal halide lights and well my father is a electronic technision aswell as my grandpa to you are right in the fact that they are the same lights but the problem with them from there or any other electrical place you buy to build them yourself is they are 4000 k or less and fish and corals need 6500k - 20000k so they are not getting the right uv that the sun provides but you can build it your self cheap to like i built mine which is 4 foot long with a 400 watt metal halide 14000 k,balist for it, socket, wood, reflectors, and a 2 florensent 4 foot bulbs and balist for it as well as bulbs, and two fans, and all wires, metal boxs to hold the balists which to buy the light that would do the same cost $1600 I built it for around $300 for all which includes the cost of the metal halide bulb which was $130 alone
  4. well i know how to make it the biggest ? i have is where to get the suplys and the cost to make it
  5. I want to make my own metal halide light and where do i get the parts from in edmonton and the cost it might cost me to do it? any help here would be great
  6. well i owned them aswell yes they are a brackish water but have kept them for over two years in freshwater but as the other person stated all your live bearers fish mollies and swords, guppys can live in brackish water and a tank that size you could have two of ether of those with them because they are bottom feeder fish mostly and sit ar bottom mostly i had a figur 8 puffer with them at well but was in a 126 gallon tank the bubblebee goby only gets to about 2 inch on average if lucky so small fish the figure 8 puffer does not get that big ether about 3 inches if you give him live snails to each which i did by going to the local pond every spring then letting the snails live in a pale 5 gallon with fresh clean water to clean them out for a month and of coarse changing that water with clean stuff atleast once a week you could add those to the tank for him to eat and he would most likly leave the bumbblebees alone but of coarse you would have to clean the shells out of tank after he eats them there would be a build up of shells but that small of a tank thats about all you have
  7. well I been doing this for years and well pictus cats are normally very peaceful but most any cat fish will eat whatever they can fit in there mouth and the pictus cats long wiskers bug most other fish i would have two or more of them if you can and dwarf blue are normally great in any tanks of peacful fish but males will fight each other and angels well are more aggresive then the rams by far i find.if you going to have angels in a comunity tanks should have 6 or more of them so they fight between each other more you still might loose the odd neon lol or they might nip others but they are a slow fish to most.and becarful what type Gouramis you get because some get very big and they can be a bit aggresive to and barbs as well they are fin nippers to and should have 6 or more of them aswell so they fight amoungest themselfs more.most rainbows get very big to.and what kind of fish do you have in there right now.if just guppys daniols are a great fish and hardy and active sorry on spelling lol, swords, platies, mollies, tetras, all cory cats, plecos, most chiclids will have your guppys and other fish for dinner they are very aggresive fish except the rams chiclids should be only chiclids and there are 3 levels to there aggresiveness aswell the yo-yo loach is great to go with chiclids and other fish aswell, almost all cleaner fish are good but watch which type you get because some get very big and will eat what they can fit in there mouth.if you what to know about some types of fish you can talk to me on msn messanger or email me at darcybrasco@hotmail.com
  8. The cheapest way is like they said turn off the lights for a few days or you can try a chemical that is used in ponds called clear fast made by laguna works great but it will turn the water white for a day and then the bottom of the tank will have white sludge from the dead algae so make sure you have good filtration if use and it is highly consitrated to so you do not need much of it read directions closly on bottle if you use it
