  1. Check out "Fulam workhorse" ballasts they support alot of different bulb setups. Eecol carries them.
  2. I currently have 2 cannister filters running (Rena xp3 & jabeo) and a Hydor aerator. The problem is the aerator makes to much condensation on the tank hood (Aluminum hood) and water starts to drip down filter lines and cords onto the the floor. I want to remove the aerator, one cannister, add a tight fitting plexi-glass top under the hood and a hydor korilia 2 power head. Is it going be enough filtration? Is it bad to have a tight fitting top? It's a 75 gallon that will eventually have around 25 fish. Thanks
  3. Looks great. Where did you get your acei from ?
  4. I'm thinking about getting some Koi swordtails for my 20gallon planted tank. Maybe 1m 2f swordtails and a group of small schooling fish. I read some where 30 gallon min. for swordtails and salt is required. Just wonder what other peoples opinions are.
  5. I had UV filter trip breaker last night dropping water from 26 to 21 celsisus. No fish died water temp is rising. My question is about filtration. I currently have a BOYU EFU-25 Canister filter and a UV filter that also has a sponge media. Now that the UV filter is no longer working I think I need another filter. I can't use a HOB because of my hood setup. Can someone recommend a good cannister filter and a place to buy? Does any one have experience with Hydor filters? What media setup should I use? It is a 75 gallon tank that eventually will house around 20 cichlids.
  6. If you are looking for Acei I bought mine at a fish store called Aquarium Designs Unlimited 7.99 for a juvenile here's a pic.
  7. I've added some new larger rocks, there is much more hollow space in between and under the rocks now. I'll probaly add more as time goes on, March in Edmonton is not a good time to be looking for rocks. I was hoping to get more fish at the recent auction, not much selection for juvenile cichlids.
  8. Here's a update of what my tank looks like now. I pretty happy with the way it turned out. I'm think of stocking with Electric Yellows and Acei.
  9. I definitely like that tank setup. Those rocks are stacked very high. Is that too much pressure to have leaning on the back glass? Is it possible to built a shelf to stack the rocks on? Thanks for the comments everyone.
  10. Hello Curious if anyones attended a Aquarium club of Edmonton auction. There's one coming up in March wondering what to expect as far livstock, I'm looking for some african cichlids.
  11. Hi I'm looking for some feedback on my new 75 gallon tank setup. It is going to house some Mbuna fish. Do I need a lot more rocks? What are some thoughts on having a school of giant danios to go with the Cichlids.
  12. Hello I'm looking to stock a new 75 gallon tank with Mbuna Cichlids. I was at a chain petstore which had a tank of juvenile cichlids labeled as Assorted cichlids ( Pseudotropheus Sp.) 5.99 each. Would it be a diasater if i purchased 12 of these for my tank.
  13. Hello I'm from Edmonton Alberta. I currently have a fairly new 20 gallon planted tank setup and a brand new 75 gallon african cichlid tank with no fish yet. I haven't decided on fish yet but pretty sure it will be a Mbuna tank. Anyways Hi to everyone.
