  1. I managed to get a picture of the growing fry...I can't help but notice them all the time, 'cause i'm still waiting for the other fish to eat them all...it's an eventuality i'm sure, but for now i'm still happy.
  2. Awesome Colors! If I thought for one minute I could take care of those gorgeous fish i'd get some...Very Very beautiful indeed!
  3. Looks amazing! Such a nice way to display a tank!
  4. Nice Job! I wish my husband was as talanted at woodwork! he thinks he is, but not quite there yet. Maybe with a bit more practice.
  5. My room mate managed to get a smokin' deal for his 10 gal set up...if you can find someone on kijiji or something trying to get rid of theirs it'd probably save you a bunch of moola. I forgot to mention before the power heads...we were told the more movement the better, so in my RMs 10 gallon he has 2 powerheads and a HOB filter (Filled with small bits of Live Rock) and for everything, he only paid $100. Shop, Shop, Shop!
  6. Gotta love the 2 for 1...I was there at open and took all but 1 of the L. Brevis. Now my other pair aren't lonely.
  7. :welcome: Check out the S/A and C/A Cichlid Guessing Game...you may enjoy it! :smokey:
  8. Your biggest expense, as I found out today, is going to be for lighting...you need to decide what you want to put in your tank...low light corals? Sea Anemonies (which usually require more wpg)? For a 10 gallon light you can get one at Big Al's for around $65, you'll probably want to get a heater ($30-$60 depending on type), maybe a HOB filter ($15-$40). Then you still have to buy your Live Rock ($10/lb about 10-20lbs), substrate ($40-80) and salts/chemicals ($35ish), wait a few months, add your cleaner crew ($30), then wait some more, and then you can add 3-4 small fish. I'm definately not an expert, but I have been looking into this with a friend, and we've discovered that it's quite expensive to start out, but the SW tanks are a joy to watch.
  9. HOLY FREAKIN'!!! That's just Crazy Wierdness and kinda cool in a morbid kinda way...GOLLY JEEZE!! LOL
  10. Nice to put a face to the name! Hope you enjoyed your visit to our LFS. Did you find anything interesting?
  11. Any fish has the potential to be a jumper. These fish may eventually top out at 2"...i've seen some get fairly aggressive with one another...so you can beware of this. Maybe provide lots of plants for hiding in/around, add some floating plants if you can. Good luck!
  12. LMAO...gotta love auctions. Gets the blood pumpin'!
  13. Day 5...still have a schwack of fry...do I dare to be optomistic? lol And now they're noticibly more than just dots, I can actually see them!
  14. Welcome...Whatcha got in your tank(s)?
  15. oh man, all this technical stuff is a lot. Guess that's why I chose the handle, "Wingin' It" hahaha...good luck Fleshgear! I hope you get some fry soon!
  16. I've only been able to find Spawn Aid at Pisces and it's about $12.99/bottle.
  17. This fella would go great with my girl...lol
  18. Just curious, did you try what BlackMumba said to do with the peat moss?
  19. It's definately their first spawn, and a suprising one to say the least. tank mates include: 4-5 Leleupi (still young) 4-5 Juli's (Juvie's) 2 Brevis 4 Bronze Cory (Juvie's) 1 yoyo loach 1 pleco So far they've been really good at protecting the fry, they chase everyone who comes within 5 inches away...but i'm not holding my breath. The fry keep hiding in the rocks, so syphoning might be a bit more difficult. When I had my Mbuna's only a few ever made it to "haha...you can't eat me" stage. lol Maybe i'll just wait and see what happens. There'll always be another spawn i'm sure.
  20. hahaha...until they're all eaten?? I'm mixed between wanting them to live, and wanting the collective to be together again. How do I get these fry out?
  21. Yesterday, just before heading out to an evening movie...I stood in front of my cichlid tank and was admiring my collection of Tangs...and noticed that most of the fish were hanging out in only one half of the aquarium. I further investigated and all of a sudden I noticed a small cloud. A small cloud of fry and the Daffodil Brichardi parents guarding them! Whoa! I didn't think that they were even ready to breed 'cause they're only half the size they'll end up being! This is the first time i've kept Brichardi, so this type of behaviour is new to me. I'm still 'uber' happy they bred, and the fry hatched...but now feel bad for the other fish that they only get to hang out in half the tank. Anyone know how long the parents will be so protective of their fry? I tried to get a picture of the fry, but they're sooo small and quick!
  22. I think Big Al's just got some in yesterday too! Let us know if they work?!
