I dont know, most likely female , females usually have black blotch on their dorsal fin, but not 100% of the time, exceptions do crop up such as yours that passed away... he had a black blotch on the dorsal. AS for growth You have a supply of live food, hopefully the water is warm enough , i give shrimp and you could get get some NLS growth, overall depends on the fish and the conditions my OTHER SB tex is a pickier eater too which doesnt help her but shes growing steadily

he's about 4 inches now went through a big growth spurt in october and nov but its stalled a bit now as he is in smaller accomodation until the end of the month ... the female i have is even more stumpy and short... Regardless if it came from another species or not, it is a defect yes, it may have come from a tex or possible parrot parent im not certain.

Just watched "THE COVE" which has Just been released at blockbuster and Im sure other movie stores. I recommend you guys go pick it up, its enjoyable for all types and ages (although perhaps somewhat disturbing for smalller children). This is not just a enraged green peace 'no eat meat' kind of thing, it addresses the cultural issues , health issues, and cruelty issues with dolphin harvesting in Japan. Even for how they went about getting the information they wanted, the technology they used etc will be of interest to a lot of people. Very informative and educational and interesting. Go rent it!

update...replaced the shaft it made a big difference still not completely silent, but ill give it until i complete my move in the new year to quiet down the rest of the way and the impeller to slime up, then ill replace the impeller and see how that works, but it is quite a difference already makes it more tolerable thanks for the help

Just wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction for 48 inch light bulbs , most affordable place to get them in edmonton? i would just need a regular light for fresh water fish, no plants or anything... any idea how much they would cost? thanks

k thanks guys, i just tried the pam thing, seems to improved slightly ....but still sounds kind of like an air pump...and from what ive read from the manufacturers u should hear only water...so perhaps ill have to pick up some new parts, if they dont do the trick then theyll serve as extras for the new one anyways, just wanted to see if someone could suggest a cheaper brand and tips, thanks!

Hey guys i have a second hand AC500 and its just rattling away, im just curious if anyone has any tips or experience with this? I have cleaned it out and pulled it all apart a few times, im just debating on wether i should get a new impeller or buy new? ... also any thought and opinions on other large HOB's that you could suggest if i do buy new would be appreaciated, from the research i have done so far they seem to get the best overall rating though.....?! ?!?
