Actually i have never been dealed with ampullariidae before and it was my first time. i kept them in the 20g tank with Bamboo shrimp family and in my daughter’s tank 2,5g with only betta. And in both tanks they have died in almost same time. Maybe they were really not so “fresh” from beginning.

Ammonia = 0, nitrates almost 0. Chloramine? I was sure that in Calgary are using only for regular chlorine. I just keep it for 1-2 days in a bucket, without any additive. My tanks are almost empty.

Hi, Actually subject is my question. Ampullarias dying without any reason. The same situation in two different tanks. They just close the flap and after few days are fall out of the shell. No ammonia or other toxic elements found. Water replaced every week 10%. Maybe something wrong with water in Calgary?

Don't be confused that fresh water tank is easier than salt water. Both of them requires knowledge and skills.

I kept cherry in 10L(3g) plastic box with custom airlift filter(foam rubber + ceramic cylinders) and java moss. Nothing more. Water hardness was 25+ dGH (it was not in here) and PH in range 7-8. And they spawned like crazy.

Do not over light. If you do not go with planted tank and do not plan to install CO2 - do not put to much light. Otherwise you will get green algae.

Hi everybody! I moved to Canada/Calgary 6 month ago from another country and as result i lost all my tanks. Since i'm living in rental appartment i can't start from big tanks again, but also can't live without "wetting hands" , so i have decided to start with small tank with shrimps. From now - alot of questions... where is better to buy tanks/equipment? Where is better/possible to buy srimps (some neocaridines, red cristal/cherrry)? little about me. Likes small chiclids and catfishes + shrimps. Breeding history - microgeophagus ramirezi (4 times, 150-200 each time), ancistrus (6 times, 80-120 each time).
