  1. Well they may have to stay in this tank as my other are a little stuffed.

This will be a grow out tank. these are being planted in clay pots with flourite/sand mix as it will be a bare bottom tank. CO2 is not pressurized its a red sea refillable, I can put my other one on if needed. Currently has 2 filters running with sponges from my other established tanks.

Any thoughts changes to make would be gladly appreciated!!

I will see if I can get a picture of the plant with the biggest issue.

  2. LOL - Trouble is all the Credit Cards are mine

Ya I am actually doing some housework but only enough to facility the tank set-up i.e. cleaning out a sink for gravel cleaning and bucket filling same as the tub cleaning.

I have 3 boxes of fish stuff in my kids playroom as well as the 3 empty tanks, BBS hatchery and 2 running tanks.

My room is full of Betta's but soon not to be we are going to swap for the nursery tanks.

He is out getting into trouble but has the 5 yr old with him so i guess its ok.

  3. I acquired a few more plants from Big Al's last weekend and put them in a quarantine 30g due to the algae issues.

I need a fish that will goggle all this up. The only fish in the tank is a PK betta which can be moved. and an apple snail.

The plants in question are Narrow java fern, echinodorus uruguayensis, Crinum, Juncus Repens, another Echinodorus and there is java moss and Najas grass in this tank.

I do not want to use Excel as I never have good luck and I already have CO2 in the tank.

    Thanks for any suggestions

Would love to know where to find locally as well.

  4. I may have to start taking my weekend mornings off to start garage saling again - Groom in the afternoon / evening.

But who will watch the kids???? Maybe I can hire Maddie she seems to like my oldest. LMAO

I do prefer trading stock / stuff or even pet grooming services. I believe in the barter system!!!

  5. Too bad its meant for Rays.

I think fishclubgirl and I could stock it fully with "RARE" livebearers.

She could probably completely aquascape it as well with those jungle tanks.

Although finding a Coralife big enough might be interesting let alone the fert and flourite costs.

I see why I keep to my mini nano tanks in comparison.

It really is an amazing build - I give you tons of credit.

I would love to see pics once stocked. My co-workers would be in awe.

Our basement at work is big enough maybe the Vet hosp needs a swimming pool / tank.

  6. I'm cheap but believe in fair.

My own personal formula all be it weird is for anything up to 50g - tank only - $1 per gallon

If it includes a glass top $1.5-2 per gallon

If it includes a glass top and light in working order $2-3 per gallon

Once you get into adding stands and accessories I have to really weigh knowing what I can buy things for new and what will likely need repairing - i.e. filters with impellers, bio-wheels etc that start at about $12-15 each.

Obviously I am also cheap and LOVE Free or trades - asked fishclubgirl

But I am also one to be informed on what I can get where and for what. Love when people post their deals or rather steals.

1 guy on kijiji had 2 tanks 10g and 7g with afew assorted accessories for freshwater but not enough to get both tanks running and wanted $175. He said it was unfair to sell for less since he paid over $250. If he did someone fleece him bad.

  7. I met a gentleman selling auatic plants and supplies through kijiji - may even be a member that built all of his own stands and canopies. They were AMAZING!!!

He lived in Harvest Hills? End of 14th St NW.

Try posting on kijiji maybe he will see it.

  8. That Pelia ihas gone crazy along with everything else in that tank!!!! Well except the AB BN plecos - all that Ikea shopping has them not wanting to do anything else.

My fry all still hide in whatever is floating - rarely find them anywhere near the scary bottom with the big fish. The Banan plant is the favorite perch for the pygmy Cory's. And yes it is still growing like stick - I guess I at least have a nack for Banana Plants - LOL

  9. Congrats on those Angels. Was the Koi ones?

You could go buy a rack of tanks for all those spawning fish.

I agree on the rack. It would be nice to see you get a fish room. Then you can decorate your house with fish tanks all over. lol

Everyones ganging up on you now. That litte nook could have 2 walls with tanks and you still fit the love seat. Fish tank wallpaper its all the rage especially if you keep breeding fish this well. Grow out tank central.

  10. I've got to refill mine and can wait if you're over on the weekend. Was demonstrating how easy it is to someone and ran out of sugar. Used icing sugar that was messy but works the same. So far, my diy refills last longer than the store bought ones.

I will let you know tonight if I get to have some time to myself.

  11. Like you can ever really stop buying Betta's = especially with fishclubgirl around!!

Although I have been a bad influence lately!! Teehee - letting her know what all the LFS have gotten in.

Off to aquascape and finishing setting up a divided tank for breeding or betta's - havenlt really decided which yet.

  12. I have both the Red Sea and Nutrafin systems and hate buying the refills so I am looking for your recipes for refilling these.

Obviously the Nutrafin is still the Sugar the the first mark and it looks like about 1/4 tsp of good quality yeast (brand suggestions?) and what is the other packet? Looks like Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda).

The Red Sea I will be setting up for the first time tonight.

I am not into building the systems on my own I am lazy but hate paying for the refills.

    Tanks everyone
