  1. Just a heads up. Calgary/Red Deer Petlands will be getting an order from Jeff Rapps first week in November. I'll be posting prices/availability 2 weeks before the order will be arriving and be taking orders at that time. I think I'm going to have to sell some furniture to make room for more tanks. :smokey: The old lady is gonna kill me.
  2. They're looking awsome, wait til these guys grow out, they'll have solid red all the way to the anal fin. Feed 'em lots of NLS and that make it even brighter.
  3. Bred the original male with a female eureka red, I wanted to get more finage and blue in the line. I also like the jake shape alot more, which really showed itself in about 25% of the resulting young. I had a few males that have much better finage than this one, but the overall color quality wasn't as good, so they won't be bred.
  4. Here's an old picture of a male that I used to have, I'll snap some pics tonight of his sons. Also very nice. http://albertaaquatica.com/uploads/1141757...23_14_81690.jpg
  5. I've had a submissive male red zebra pick up eggs and hold them. Maybe the fish has been male all along and was picking up the other female's eggs at spawning time.
  6. Actually, it's $349.97 at Petland
  7. Check this out, video of the act http://www.albertaaquatica.com/media/video/pufferlove.mpg
  8. Speaking of weird hybrids. This takes the cake. When a couple of my OB peacocks were spawning, A male Petrichromis Trewevasae made his way into the action, 2 of the young stripped had definate petrichormis traits. I kept them as a curiosity, now they are 2" and are actually kinda nice. I'm glad I kept them, now I want to see if they are actually fertile. Never thought that fish from 2 different lakes would crossbreed like that.
  9. wow...that's pretty mean for that small. Shame you can't use egg crate. Maybe since they are so small, some zebra danios would help, Giant danios if not. Otherwise, i'd just say to put more visual obstructions in the tank. Maybe put one grammodes in the tank to hold the dominant spot, keeping the haitiensis from jousting for dominance.
  10. Very good tips. I'm going to try some of this out. Thanks!
  11. I totally agree...BN plecos are where it is at. Easy to breed, easy to raise, always tons of demand for them. Plus the price per fish you'd be selling them for is much more than angels, especially mollies.
  12. The Petland in Coventry Hills has about 7 of them in.
  13. 5 Red Shoulder Severum 2 Festae 4 Uaru 2 bifasciatus 2 Red Aureum 2 Bartoni 1 Red Head Tapajos Geo 3 Surinamensis Geo
  14. I've got a tank in every open wall spot in my house. I'd have more if I had the room... I guess I need to move. 1 - 60gal 1 - 20gal 2 - 90gal 1 - 180gal 2 - 25gal 2 - 30gal 1 - 5gal
  15. My landlord forced me to get the dehumidifier after coming to visit during the winter. After seeing the how the ice ripped apart my window sils I was given the choice of given a dehumidfier or getting rid of the tanks. So i got a dehumidfier. I tried putting some of the water in a bucket, and sure enough, an oil slick formed on top. A shame it's not usable but oh well. Time to go back to make due with using snow. Thanks for the input ! .
  16. I haven't been able to find much information as for care requirments for the blennies. I've been just trying different things. They seem to like bloodworms, and that's about all I can get them to eat right now. Very Very Very territorial, esspecially with each other. 4 barely get along in a 6' long tank. Their skin colors up with some salt in the water, maybe brackish? Sunridge Petland still has a few available, they haven't given me too much trouble yet, I'd suggest giving them a try. I only recommend that if your getting more than one, get all females. The male I have even fights with plecos, very mean. The Red Gold Peacock is one of my babies, he's breeding right now making my third generation. I've gotten stock for this line everywhere. The bristle nose is about 3.5" long now. I can't wait to breed these guys, it'll look awsome to have a tank full of little yellow babies.
  17. Here's a few pictures from some of my tanks Male Vietnamese Blenny Female Vietnamese Blenny Gold Red Peacock This is a hybrid, I can't remember what he is, but I do know he's half Otter Point Jake Albino Bristlenose After getting frustrated trying to get a decent shot of this guy, I just decided to pull him out
  18. Would the water that I get from my dehumidifier be usable for aquariums? It is safe? Anyone do this before?

One of the things that I found with using NLS with Africans is that it is the best for bringing out the blue color in peacocks. There are several foods out there that can make the orange and red as bright, but nothing that affects the blue like this. The other really good thing is spawning. Since using NLS clutch sizes have gone up, as well as the frequency of spawning . I can usually expect my females to be holding again within 16 days of being stripped. Growth rates are also increased alot
  20. I finally got this guy to hold still for a second and let me get a decent picture. He's currently eating NLS cichlid. Since switching to NLS he's developed alot more blue along the body.
  21. I'd suggest some Butis Butis. Neat little predator, kinda funny seeng how they swim around and orient themselves in the tank. Guess that's why they call 'em "Crazy Fish". Shawnessy Petland has some at 3-4"
  22. South Trail Petland still has about 12 in stock
  23. I've seen those strawberry peacocks that you mentioned before. I sold a few of them at the Sunridge Petland about 6 months back. Nice fish, damn expensive though. I do have a lead on some more though along with some other line bred "Frankenfish" . These I'll be able to sell to the public at a much better price. PM me if you'd like to see some preview pictures.
  24. I bred it. **Secret Recipe** i still want to work on the line for a few more generations before i start letting them out
