  1. Yea... They carry the Penn-Plax Cascade.
  2. I guess another option is the pro III 2075. Same price as the 2028 on big al's online but more gph and media...
  3. Just wondering who else sells Eheim filters other than Big Al's in Edmonton. Unless someone has one for sale.
  4. Yea. I'm currently running 2 AC110 and I'll probably just leave them there. They just aren't keeping up as nicely now with my african stocking.
  5. 2028 also has more media space and comes with spray bar and attachments. I'm still not sure. Will either be enough for a 90 gal african tank? Anyone have experience with the penn plax cascade 1500?

    Which Eheim

Which Eheim is the better choice between the Classic 2217 or Pro II 2028 and why. The Pro also being a bit more expensive....but other than that. Thanks

    Used FX5

I see... I didn't think it was that expensive new. It says they don't come with media new. What do most people run in them then?

    Used FX5

What about new/never used? Price wise....

    Used FX5

I'm looking at buying an FX5 filter. It's been used for a couple months. I can probably get it for $200 if not a bit less. Is that decent enough price? And from what I've read they are good filters? The best of the fluval? Anything I need to know about them? I imagine there is some bypass as there usually is... but in general? Thanks in advance
  10. oh I see. I'm hoping to get a similar look with real plants. But we'll see how it goes...
  11. It almost seems to be coming from my tap water... I just did a 50% water change and it looks like there are more bubble... Would it work to put an inline filter from my tap to see if it can take whatever it is out? And if so would 5 micron be enough?
  12. I usually have the tank right full so there is no waterfall effect. I'm going to try doing a few large water changes a few days in a row and see what happens. I've been reading and someone mentioned that high mineral content in water can cause white specks? Would that be true? Thanks for the replies so far.
  13. My tank has been set up for a few weeks and nothing has settled. Doesn't really show signs of settling either. My Piranha tank doesn't have any kind of rockwork, just pebble substrate with driftwood, and it still has it a bit. That's what I figured with the rubbing since it's nothing consistent.
  14. I'd like to get my water nice and clear. I have these white specks floating around in the water. It doesn't appear to bother the fish. My stats are fine. I have them in my 90gal and 55 gal but harder to see in the 55 since lighting is alot less. The pictures make it look worse than it actually is. You'll probably notice I need to clean my intake tubes... but I can't see that being it. Filtration is 2 Aquaclear 110, a powerhead with filter attachment and a bubble filter - similar to hydor i think. I tried filter floss hoping it would take out small particles, but it hasn't really helped. All the fish are acting normally, only thing I do noticed rarely is the odd fish rubs against the sand. Nothing on a regular basis though and from what I can see it's not the same fish each time. I do weekly water changes of at least 30%. Usually closer to 50%. I'm slowing down on the feeding for a bit to see if that helps.
  15. Is there anythign else that I should worry about with lidded tanks?
  16. I do have a lidded tank and I don't really want to lower the water level. Where can I get Frogbit and Pennywort? I wouldn't mind having a look at your Water Hyacinth and Water Lettuce Baos. When would you be throwing out your next 5 gallon bucket? Still looking to get some hornwort though. I don't think I want something will grow up out of the water because of the lids. I'd like something that floats and does will in low light no added fert tanks. Like I said I only have the one tank with 2x25w, then the other usually only has the one 25w but does have the T5HO with 2x55w which are the 18000k and 6700k bulbs.
  17. I'm for sure interested... Where abouts NE? I might be goign up to sherwood park here to get some rocks soon also.
  18. Awesome. Sounds like the one to try out then. Who has some that I get from? And I assume when I get some all I do is give it a rinse and drop it in?
  19. They can. They went at my plastic plants for a bit. But I'd like to try and give it a chance.
  20. Is pruning necessary? And is there much to it? Does hornwart or water lettuec need alot of light or fertilizer? Don't really like the look of duckweed. I've got a T5HO at 2x55w on the one tank but I usually have the other light on which is only 25w. And my other tank only has 2x25w. I'm looking for something easy to take care of so I don't have to do a bunch of extra work.
  21. I'd like to try some plants in my aquarium. Looking at floating plants to block a bit of light for my piranhas and make them a bit happier. Also looking to try it in my african cichlid tank. So I'm wondering what are the best plants to look into for this. And actually how well do plants take care of nitrates? As in, if I want to have almost no nitrates in my tanks how planted do I have to be?
  22. Good to know about the petricolas. I don't plan on anything else on the bottom. I'll have enough that they'll do a great job.
