  1. I use water from safeway for my 5.5g and tap for my 30. I'm planning on a ro/di unit but haven't gotten around to purchaing it.
  2. Looks great! I wish I was that far along on my 90!
  3. Yeah it fits right in there, lucked out on that one.
  4. I started a new build and thought I would share I'm in the process of building the stand myself. It's 42" tall so it can be viewed while standing. I placed it in a niche in my basement where a fire place is supposed to go. It's built out of 2x4's and being skinned in maple, the doors will be frosted glass. I'll build a canopy to match someday.. Planning to go planted with this one also, I have a 20 gallon planted that I'll transfer over to this one. I bought the tank used, it still needs a very good cleaning. It looks horrible in the pictures but is relatively free of scratches. Regards Robb
  5. My CSS has to run a couple of days before the bubbles dissapear. It's also very sensative to water level changes.. If I add a gallon or two at once it will start to bubble again for a day for two.. Very annoying.
  6. Having the rock work away from the glass will make the glass alot esier to clean.
  7. Good to hear, If I went out an bought ANOTHER thing for the SW tank I think my tanks and I would be homeless!
  8. How is Edmonton's Tap water for a reef tank? I have been using it the last month or so?
  9. Nothing to fancy, Tank is finished cycling and we added two Oc. clowns this evening. Will also be adding a goby or two then some snails etc for a clean up crew.
  10. I did a foolish thing and dove head first into a SW tank ( good thing I never claimed to be bright )
  11. All the equipment is the same as before. I did change the substrate over to profile. I'm running DIY Co2 ( If I could only keep the snails out of it ) I was moving a few things around and noticed the water was a little cold. My heater isn't working and I'm not sure how long it's been down. No casualties though. Thats the second heater in three months...
  12. Update on what it looks like now.
  13. Thanks for the kind words and tips. More about my tank: Small 20 Gallon Fish Load: 3 - Painted Tetra 5 - Zebra Danios 2 - Panda Cory's Plants: 1 - Java Fern 1 - Windelov Java Fern 2 - Vallisneria Torta Lighting: CoraLife 24" / 28w Dual Light / 1- full spectrum, 1 - 6700K My old plastic hood with stock 18" fluorescent is still on the tank also. Substrate: Gravel, cant tell you what kind. Regards
  14. I have had my first tank set up for three short weeks and I hated the plastic plants the second they went in to the tank. Today I decided it was time to rectify that and I headed down to the store and picked up a CoraLife 24" 28w light (probably paid too much for it) and some plants. The tank has quite a bit less in it now, but I am much happier with the way it looks. What do you think? Regards
  15. Thanks for the information it' greatly apprciated. It is Malaysian driftwood. I did notice that it now has a white fluff type growth on it.. Normal? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure everyone survives. Regards

    Bio-spira

Is it available in Edmonton or do you have to order it in? Regards
  17. Hi all, I have a piece of driftwood in my 20 Gal tank and it leaches a bit. Will it continue to leach color into the tank or will is stop eventually? Regards Here is what is is doing to my water:
  18. There are: 3 - Zebra Danios ( Might as well have one. The largest one has the other two in hiding all the time ) 3- Painted Tetras Still deciding on tank mates for them once cycling is complete.
  19. Hi all, thought I would post a picture of my 20 Gallon, my first tank. Not nearly as nice as many of yours but I had to start somewhere! Regards
  20. I think it may be my better half I need to keep in check. She wants them to be my fish, but she wants "me" to have a large SW tank. I'm no where near ready for one ha! But she has it all planned out, we have an empty 25' wall in the basement rumpas room that she thinks would look perfect with a couple of big tanks! Not for some time I'm afraid..I want to make sure I keep enjoying the hobby as much as I already have. I look forward to picking all your brains.. Regards
  21. Hey all, thought I would say hello. I'm new to fish keeping, I just got involved a week ago when my wife bought me a 20 gallon for my b-day. It was a great gift, I feel like a kid again. So far I have: 3 - Zebra Danios 3 - Painted Tetra's I'm not to sure what else I will add once the tank has cycled. One question though, how do you keep yourselves in check with this hobby! I already want more tanks, but thought better of it untill I get fully acquainted with the hobby. Regards Parker
