    Help?

Test strip? From the timing I'd assume the water change did it. Numbers you posted look near perfect, so perhaps a spike in the water at change time. Have you added extra dechlorinator to the tank to be sure?
  2. T5's I've seen are all high output. Thus the T8's should be lower light output on a one to one basis. Are you using T5's Jason, or T8's? Curious how bright a dual lamp T8 would be 4-6 inches above the tanks. As you say, I don't want an algae farm. Antonio
  3. Hmm yeah was debating that. Course, almost guaranteed it's an electronic ballast and thus I can decrease lighting as needed. thanks,
  4. thinking of a 4 lamp T8, what do you think, enough or too much light? Will be 4-6 inches above the water lines.
  5. What are you using for lighting btw? I see the fixtures hung on the underside much like I am planning. Are you using T5? T8? thanks, Antonio
  6. What are the exact dimensions of the pressboard jeremoose? and Jay, yep I'd planned on doing the foam bit, 1/2 thick enough? thanks, Antonio
  7. Hmm I wonder, does the pressboard come painted or just bare? Perhaps applying a sealant would do the trick regarding the water issue. Antonio
  8. Yeah I'm thinking about doing this, the press-board seems pretty sturdy though. It is... until it gets wet. Don't ask me how I know  ack yeah was thinking that was what you meant Think I'll get some ply and put a sheet of that on top the pressboard, give me a bigger safety margin. and since I'm feeling lazy, I'll get them to cut it too hehehe I also plan on mounting a lighting fixture on the underside, so that would already compromise the pressboard a bit. Antonio
  9. or if you can afford the space usage, just put 3/4 or 1/2 ply ontop the press board? Cheers, Antonio Valid point though hmmmmm so many choices lol
  10. Sweet thanks Jason It's officially rated for like 800lbs per shelf but...like to be safe rather than sorry Antonio
  11. sweet, same unit I am looking at gettting. Just how solid is it once loaded up? Nice & sturdy or a bit shaky? thanks, Antonio
  12. LOL sounds good, i'm shooting for 400-500 so close to the same. Mind linking me the exact shelving unit you are looking at ? thanks, Antonio
  13. but but but bah sorry about the dbl post, not sure how I managed that. if an admin has the time pls delete it tks called natures corner and they have at least 4-5 types of cory's in, sterbai, pandas, hmmm forget the others cheers, Antonio
  14. I'm looking at one trio of guppies and 1-2 types of corys, probably 8 of each as I like them in schools cheers, Antonio
  15. Typically yes about$100 via air cargo but depends on the size box
  16. Acid buffer would not. http://www.seachem.com/support/forums/showthread.php?t=2171 Yeah I was looking at that, will check it out and maybe test it. Dosing is alot smaller amounts too. thanks, Antonio
  17. ahh cool, that would open things up to alot more fishies As for temps, don't forget it's one overnight so all we need is a one day window Antonio
  18. great minds think alike. I did the same, but with an eye towards the guppy trios, here is part of the reply. You would be looking at about $55 for shipping cost and that is for next day priority express delivery to your door by 10:30 am. Just so you know I can ship up to 3 trios for that price as it is the same size box. so 3 trios for that price, not sure on larger group order & cost but can ask as well. cheers, Antonio
  19. be patient grasshopper! hehe as for taking the males out, why not try the external breeding boxes? quite large, hand on the outside of the tank, but take in water from the main tank. Thus you can have same water conditions and isolate the females that are ready and save all the babies etc.
  20. Yep, this is a hope depot shelving unit vs their rack system, but says it's rated for 4,000lbs overall. So thinking if I'm not even hitting 1000lbs I should be ducky...in theory Good point on the space behind the unit, need that for all sorts of plumbing & wiring Antonio
  21. LOL yep sounds like you do, 4,000lbs limit on that one too, but not sure I can squeeze it into the room I want to since it's not a pure fish room..Course, that means I 'could' do a fish room <looks around for his wife> Antonio
  22. heck, I didn't even think of that lol, haha more proof of the usefulness of this board thanks! Antonio
