  1. How big are the demasoni's? Sounds like they could be overstocked for a 30 Gallon. Demasoni's really need to be sexed when adding them to the tank. There are specific male to female ratios that should be seriously looked at. Stress is most likely the cause if the water perameters are ok.
  2. The primers (and most for that matter) always need "a few" pumps. Took my 105 (dry) last night about 20 vigerous pumps, but it worked great after that. About the leaks... Have you tried replacing the seal? I find that when I have to force the lid on, that I have either too much water in it, didn't put the primer plug all the way up, or I have something that dosn't fit (eg. the top is on the wrong way/trays are misaligned etc). My Fluval 404 also gives me some trouble when first snapping the lid on, and sometimes leaks down the sides. When that happens, I take the lid off again and shift some of the media or internal lids around to get a better fit, and they usually work just fine after that. I also rotate the seals every time as well. I have this very beneficial to these filters. Just take the rubber seal off the lid, and rotate is 180 degrees. Sounds weird, but it works!
  3. So far everything is going well! He appears right at home with the africans!
  4. Well I guess all I can do is try. I'll let you know!
  5. I have a 5" Red tail shark. He is getting aggressive towards other tankmates. I have an 80 gallon with mixed african cichlids in it. Do you think that they would get along? I have read mixed opinions on the internet. He's a pretty big harty shark. I also have clown loaches and a yoyo loach of similar size in there, and they do quite well. I think that the red tail shark would make a great addition to the cichlid tank.
  6. Yes, they stay relatively small. The largest one I ever owned was about 4 1/2 inches. The ones I have currently are about 3" and they have been that size for about 1.5 years.
  7. Hey, try this.... flip the tray around. I found in my 404... when the tray is one way it is super hard to force the tray into place. But when I turned it upside down, it flops right in. Try that. As for getting it out... put your knee on one side, and put hard with the other. I did that and nothing broke. I also did it dry. Wet might make some sort of wierd suction.
  8. I personally swear by the E Series Fluval Digitals. They are awesome, and come with an LCD screen for temp, color change warnings (goes red when too hot, and goes blue when too cold). and also a plastic guard around the heater itself. I have only once or twice seen the temp go further away from my set temp more than 1 degree. Awesome heaters... and you don't need a thermometer anymore!
  9. Ok... So where the heck in calgary do I find levamisole hcl without having to go to a vet?? Nowhere i've checked today has it. I DON WAN MAAA FISHIES TO DIEEE!!!!!!
  10. I have confirmed it as callamanus. I can now see the very tiny red worms hanging from the anus. I will begin treatment today... hopefully I don't loose anymore of my angels/rams! Now... I'd like to know how the parasites either develop, or get into the tank. Is it mainly the food? What could be the cause?
  11. And he wasn't bitten to death. No signs of any other damage. I haven't started feeding them anything new at all. Same old Nutrafin tropical flakes. I have though recently bought a large container of it. I now put it in the fridge. Would that alter the food in any way? I also don't seem to see any red worms like the camallanus
  12. Ok woke up this morning, and he was dead of course. Now I think one of my Bolivian Rams has it. Here are some pictures of the dead one. Do you think that it is camallanus??? I need to know soon so I can start treatment.
  13. So I came home to find one of my angels dead. I looked at his brother and he has a large light colored thing coming out of his anus. It really looks like he has a very large pooh coming out. The dead guy had looked like something silimar had happened. Help meeeeee!!!

  15. I had a bunch of Ghost shrimp in with a few different bettas. In my opinion, if you have a 6 gallon, you should be just fine. All you have to do is make sure that there is adequate hiding spots for all of the shrimp. And Cherry shrimp are way better looking than ghost shrimp!
  16. Are there any Pleco's that are ok with Brackish water? I want a bottom dweller (other than a goby) for my brackish tank.
  17. I haven't closed the tab.. and I certainly don't think that I have abused that section????
  18. What happened to the buy/sell section? Am I blind, or did it go missing off the homepage?
  19. I have them?? Glassy Series Green FTW!!!!!
  20. ^^^^ LOL WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. So I now have like 1000000000000000000000000 convict fry floating around my african tank. So. What I'm thinking is putting the convicts in my empty 33 Gallon. I would love to know if Convicts would be ok tankmates with Bala sharks? My Balas are about 3.5 inches. I have 4 of them. I have 3 Convicts plus fry. Suitable tankmates? I could also do a shell dweller tank in the 33 gallon. Would convicts be ok with multi's? Need some advice here.
  22. Very true!! All of my Julii's are 99.9999% Trilineatus. Its sad, but at the same time, they still do look fantastic.
  23. The female does look pretty plump. I Put her in the clear box inside the big tank. They were flaring and he was zipping by her for about an hour, then he started making the bubble nest. After he was done I released the female. They looked like they were going to go for it. But nothin. I guess i'll try another pair. I'll let you know how it goes! haha.
