  1. Okay, I have a 10 gallon with a pair of Kribs, 6 Neon Tetras and a Swordtail. So far, the Kribs have paired up and are basically dominating the tank. However, I introduced 3 Otos to help with diatoms, but the Kribs are showing way too much aggression, especially towards their new tankmates. Should I be concerned that the Otos will eventually die from Krib harrassment? Or is the over-aggression the result of new fish in its territory? I could place the Otos in another 10 gallon if I needed to. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  2. Man, I saw a documentary about them on Animal Planet while I was in Disneyland. These guys are crazy strong. If memory serves, these guys are nicknamed "Thumb Stingers" or something. SMASH! Aren't these shrimp fish hunters?
  3. Guys, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I have the following in a 10 gallon: 2 Gold Rams 4 Blue Rams 2 Flame Gouramis They've been getting along pretty well, but something strange is occurring. One of my Gold rams got sick and died. The day after, another Gold Ram died. They were fine several days before and there has been no change in color. As of now, one of my Blue rams has clamped fins and it seems like he's ready to bite the dust as well. Any suggestions on what might be happening? I tested the water and the results are fine, so I'm assuming it might be an infection of some sort. Cheers, Marco
  4. German Blue Rams sometimes die without reason, that's just the way it is. I believe it's because they're very fragile and are notorious for dying randomly. Rams also seem susceptible to and/or frequently carry intestinal parasites, which often causes them to appear healthy and then suddenly die, although I've never had this problem in the 3 weeks I've kept my Rams.
  5. I have 2 SA Puffers with Dwarf Puffers in a 20 gallon. You really shouldn't put Puffers with anything else other than Puffers. Even so, certain variants are way too aggressive to be kept with tankmates. SA and Dwarf puffers go best together. Period.
  6. I think you mean "What's." It seems you have more than one fish in each group! Haw! Haw! God, I crack myself up with my grammar policing.
  7. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Turns out they're not a breeding pair, but 2 females. I found it kind of weird that they'd both have pink bellies. Artificial environments make fish do stupid things.
  8. Oh my god. I bought a pair of Rams at Petland several days ago and when I checked the tank today, there were eggs on the substrate. The Rams share a divided 10 Gallon with 2 Pea Puffers. I'm totally taken by surprise by this. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do?
  9. I've considered it. That might be the route I'll take, since this is going to be for my Pea Puffer tank anyway. If I get the lights everyone mentioned, chances are the Puffers won't give off any color. Maybe I'll try it out too.
  10. Hi guys, thanks for the quick replies! I haven't gotten a chance to look at any of the lights you guys suggested, but there was something else I was wondering as well. As you can see, some of the fish in the picture are "purple" in color. What was their original color? It seems that the light only affects a certain original color, which is why the yellow fish seem to have kept their own. Does that mean only certain colored fish will be subject to this purple lighting?
  11. Guys, are there any fluorescent bulbs out there that will be able to shine "purple" or colored lights into the aquarium to create the illusion of that particular color? albert_dao said mentioned something about "Powerglo", but as it stands, I'm not sure about anything at the moment.
  12. Man, I bought three at Sunridge today. To be honest, they look like sh1t, but like Toirtis said, no one else seems to have them right now. NO ONE. Hopefully I can nurse these guys back to health, and get more when the LFS get new batches in.
  13. Anyone know where to get these little guys? I've seen some near the Sunridge Petland, but as it stands, I'm not really sure I want to get them from PETLAND. Does anyone know which LFS sells Pea Puffers? Also, since this is my first time with them, can someone share their experience with Pea Puffers?
  14. Interesting videos! Maybe next time you can get a wider shot of the tank instead of keeping the camera in one place. I liked your Malawian tank especially! I didn't know that Cichlids would have that much personality!
  15. I've had no luck in finding ANY Cherry shrimp at the moment. None of the stores in Calgary seem to carry these guys. My Kribs are juveniles, so it should be okay.
  16. Thanks for the replies, guys! My dealer currently doesn't have any Amano or Cherry shrimps, so I guess I'll have to do some searching and calling around to see what is available. The Amano shrimp sounds like a really good choice, but I think I will go with Cherry Shrimps. Do you know of any fish dealers that will keep these crustaceans? I am currently buying my livestock from Gold's Aquariums.
  17. Hi! I'm new to this forum, so I hope to get to know many of you guys I have a 10 Gallon tank with: 1 male Betta 4 Neon Tetras 1 Swordtail 2 Kribensis I'd like to add a crustacean/invertebrate to my tank and I've found that maybe a Cherry Shrimp would work. They are non-aggressive and hardy. The only problem is that I don't have very much experience with them as this is my first tank. What are some suggestions for some crustaceans that would be suitable for a 10 gallon community tank? I like them to be more visible, unlike Ghost Shrimp, which are transparent in color and aren't really aesthetic.
