  7. Hi, I can't get the image of red gravel or red sand out of my mind. I don't know though if it's safe for my betta...but wonder how it looks like. Have anyone seen this somewhere? Also, if you have any picture or links that showcase the red gravel/sand for aquarium, please let me know. I would like to check it out. Thanks.

  9. Thank you for the responds @timbruun : as far as I know, my friend is using the bio media from his tank. But I'm not sure what's going & why the tank is still not ready. What I heard from him is the filter may not have enough bacteria..does this make sense? @strayner : thank you for the explaination. Yeah..waiting is really pain. Is there any method to cycle the tank that quick enough but safe for fish?
  10. Hi, A friend of mine is nice enough to give me hand to cycle my new 6 gallon tank. He is using fishless cycled method and has been doing this for about 3-4 weeks now. Why does it take so long to cycle the tank? Can I stop the cycle and use it right away for the fish? I am new to this, so any info or advice would be appreciated. thanks.
  11. thank you for your reply and correcting the tank size. I'll have to google to find out what pygmy cories & otocinclus are
  12. Knock..knock, hello.. I'm a new comer to this forum. A friend of mine suggested me to join this forum because I think he gets tired answering my questions . I am currently has a long distance relationship with fish particularly betta. I said this long distance relationship because I develop a 'connection' to fish through pictures, videos & friend's stories. Eventually I'll have a tank with nice colorful fish on my own . As a start ..I'll have a fluval edge (size probably between 1 - 2 gallon). The problem is...I don't know how to set up a tank & to take care of it. Could someone tell me or give me a good information about: - how to set up a small tank - how to clean it & change the water - what type of fish I should put with betta - plants - decoration (ie. any suggestion what i should use without being too crowded?) By the way..I use soft water at home. Will this be a problem to fish? Any advice what I should do? I really want to have the fish asap...but I also want to make sure that I can set up a healthy environment for my fish Thank you for your help.
