Infact, our grand parents fought and died to stop leaders and people like that. Nazi Germany was like that, China, Russia, Cuba, Libya.

In Canada we are not ruled by military dictators and our businesses are not run that way either. Your avatar gives me the impression that when you're on the job here, that is how you run things. It makes me uncomfortable and pushes me away. It goes against everything that is Canada.

You're inferring that all of our armed forces are of the same mindset as Nazi's, Communists, or Fascists? Ok, that's your choice.....you're not the first person I've met who doesn't support our armed forces. Free country, you can have your opinions. However, be warned....that's highly precocious to assume that about anyone without knowing them, and simply from a picture with a little title on it.

Now to answer my question, why do you not just go off and start your own website? You sound like you have lots of ideas and spirit.

I didn't say anything about our armed forces. I refered to political leaders and business staff in a democratic society. MOD OF WAR doesn't sound democratic at all. Mod of Defence, that makes sense.

I never started this thread so it can turn into a banter. I started it to maybe update certain things and give some sort or suggestion.

I tried that too, but I was pushed away. Were any of your suggestion looked into? Were up dates made? When did you start this thread?

The reach of those sites you mentioned can be duplicated here within 5 years which will open up Alberta as a recognized aquarium place to be and this site could be the draw.

You're more than welcome to start your own site. Posting a comment where you are looking for the asking price of this site infers that you have the cash resources available to start one of your own, and obviously you have shown the interest to do so as well. Plus, you've inferred that things here aren't running to your tastes.

Therefore.....why NOT start a forum of your own?

The only way I've seen UGF work with sand is reverse flow. The only way I can think of how to drive an RFUGF is to have the air bubbles drive a turbine that would push water under the filter plate. It would be pretty complex, and I'm not even sure it's possible.

I just got back from vacation in Vancouver so I haven't Been able to use a computer in a week and a half.That's my excuse.

I'm interested in what your Doing with these 40 gallons, you should post pictures all along the way, I'm interested in how your going to build the multiple level stands all around.

And what kind of system you will have setup(filtration,waterchanges,lighting,ect)

If i'm not banned very shortly here, then for sure I'll post picture and I'll start it all tomorrow by showing how I repair the tanks that were cracked and I removed the overflow boxes and how I plugged the drilled holes.

I'm going to make a U cove using 12 of them to start. Two wide in the middle and three high and then three stacked ontop of each other on the sides facing each other. My biggest problem is filtration. I want the tanks individually filtered, but I do not want to use any kind of power filter. I use only sand on the bottom of my tanks and I'm trying to figure out an air driven filtration system that is not a box filter or a sponge filter. The ideal thing would be an under the sand filtration unit driven by an air pump.

Open your minds people. My ideas are not about me making money, they are about improving this site and bring new people here and into the hobby. This hobby is falling apart, what was once the worlds second most popular hobby is now becoming obscure. The rate of children getting into the hobby is terribly low. If I owned this site I would not put a single penny from it into my pocket. This site would be managed as a business, staff would be paid real money, promotions would happen every week, memorabilia would be made, the site would be advertised the all over the world, we would pay professional advanced aquarists to write articles for us and post here and so on!

It's funny how some people have all the best of everything yet still their fish develop bacterial infections!! Then, after doing some strange tank alterations while the fish are sick, meds are added and then are meds responsible for killing and wiping out a tank!

I picked up 20 - 40 gallon tanks a few months back for $200. They are out of a Petland, so I need to strip the paint off them, reseal the inner seams and cut out the overflow boxes and seal the drilled hole on the bottom.

I'm not trying to start anything with you or point fingers at anyone. I'm under the impression that this site is waning in user activity and staff particapation. Maybe it's time to change the way things are done; to seek new and fresh ideas and treat this site as a business. Are there any growth and improvement goals for this site?

Once the serious fluid within the fish's body cavity has been frozen solid, the fish dies. This would happen within 24 hrs in a closed off compartment at 1 degree blow zero, as the fish is unable to generate it's own body heat. All the examples above of fish reanimating after freezing are fish who didn't suffer the serious fluid being frozen.

That being said, goldfish are very bad to feed to other fish as they contain an enzyme that destroys B vitamins in the fish eating them. This creates a whole series of developmental problems and health problems within a short period of time.

Also, if your aro is healthy, you can go away for an entire month and it'll have likely not lost a once of weight and would be safer in his own tank without food for two weeks than moving him. Same with the goldfish. We now know a small goldfish can go 6 months without food and not parish.
